No, chain pickerel. People call them jackfish up here. Used to be full of them. They are still there, but I haven't caught them in the same numbers in recent years.

I've never seen one. Can you eat one?

I might haul the kayak to miller lake soon

I am sure there are people who eat them but I don’t. They are full of bones. Fun to catch but not worth it to cook and clean IMO.

The meat is pretty and white. I don't know how to deal with the tiny bones. I am sure there are youtube vids on how to do it. Too many of The White Perch to be caught there for me to worry about pike.

Go into the rear end of the feeder creeks. Behind the bridges in all four or five fingers. A silver / black back rapala about six inches long will probably get the most reaction strikes. It will attract pickerel as well though. If the fish are active , use a zoom trick worm. Not wacky but texas rigged with a nail or weight in the tail. You will understand why when you see it's action. A small spinnerbait will work if one of the feeders have color to it. They will eat a gold/orange rouge as well. Up in the day , when it warms , you can catch them on a Carolina rigged lizard ( gourd green ) on the swimming beach sand banks. Just go all the way to the steel lines that are in place and throw to the bank. 1/2 oz weight. Find clean sand. After 12:00 p.m. Remember , the water is still cold. Good luck to you................

Pretty much. Just depends on species and time of year. Last Fall was the first time without grass. All new territory.

Well , I damn sure aint got time to go catch them on no rainy Saturday piled up in my house with Misty. If you can't catch em on a trick worm this weekend might as well quit. Btw , Buddy Lee skipped school yesterday and tore their arse up around A-1. In my little boat no less. Kids got bigger balls than me...........

I love throwing those trick worms, usually weightless but I have never heard of putting a nail in the tail. I’ll have to give that a try.

I appreciate the help!

FWIW, I find a piece of romex with solid copper wires in them and strip it. Then cut the pieces of copper and slide that into the worm. With all the neighborhoods being built around me there is pieces of romex everywhere.

After reading your posts, I don't think that Buddy Lee is the only one skipping school.
