I’m looking at purchasing either property or a trailer/house on a lake. Waterfront. Bass, bream and sacalait (that’s crappie for you rednecks ) are what the wife and I generally fish for.

I’m looking at Toledo bend but I am also considering one of the smaller lakes in Louisiana. Looking for something I can get to from Lafayette in about the same time as it takes to get to Toledo bend.

I have been to several but it’s been a while. Any recommendations of areas to look at would be appreciated.

I’m curious what anyone can tell me about Lake Nantaches and Lake Iatt, specifically about what the fishing is like and what to watch out for with land or homes/camps.

Thanks a bunch, guys.

Just make sure the seller actually owns the property and you should be good.

That’s something I do always ask about as well as flooding and lake levels.

With how much I love to catch the perches, I am surprised i have not checked out either of these.

Iatt and Nantachie lakes are in Grant Parish. A lot of what I call riff raff live out there full time. Not a place I would want a camp. Fishing can be good at times. If I were looking I would look at either Toledo Bend as you have already mentioned or Cane river in and around Natchitoches.

That’s part of what I was wondering about, security when we’re not there. At some point, 10 years of so, we may want to relocate permanently to whatever we buy but not for some time.

My parents are selling a place off of lake Bruin.

It’s on a canal going into the lake so not the crazy high price of the lake front

Iatt Lake has ongoing problem with weeds, state draws it down about every other year but never seems to help.Nantachie fishing is fair but lot of meth-head white trash in Grant parish.Toledo Bend would be my first choice without a doubt.

Definitely not, if you are thinking about possibly re locating permanently in 10 years. I said Cane river in natchitoches because of close proximity to a city and also your within a 45 to 1 hour drive from Toledo Bend.

You ever look into Black River Lake or Larto Lake? Can also look into Lake Bruin or something around Verret/Bayou Pidgeon
