Where would I go to get bulk corn, sweet feed, sweet taters (legal in TX), or fruit. I have access to some large containers.

I am willing to drive if it will be a big enough savings.

I tried the local grocery stores in our rural area and they were all todl by EPA and FDA that they could not give away their rotting fruit any longer and had to throw in the trash.

bulk corn, sweet feed,

I'm sure they have a feed mill somewhere around you to go get this.

Have you tried a fruit stand? Explain what you are looking for and offer to purchase at greatly reduced prices...

This. I'd talk to the manager and say "what if I left these 50 gallon barrels out back here and some rotten produce fell in em"?

This is a good idea. I would think a farmer's market would be a good place to make some connections too

Excellent idea. That way they could at least make some $$$ on inventory that they would not be able to sell to the average customer.

Sweeten the deal and give the manager some pork also. I bet you will have more produce then you can handle...

This is what more government gets us......

Perhaps you could apply the same principle as was said earlier and offered to steal their rotting fruit after it was put out for trash.

That is damn near a quote of what I offered.

And the answer from two different places was they have been fined already for doing that becasue the inspectors knew. Another place told me they were warned but not fined.

I even offered to put a plastic garbage can inside the large dumpster so it would not be obious but no dice.

So they HAVE to dump them after they are bad? Seems like they should be able to transport them back to their farm for the animals, like pigs

Mom and pop fruit stands turn them into compost.

larger places HAVE to trash them.

Yeah, what about a farmer's market that is only open on the weekend or once a month?

Not supposed to feed waste human food to farm animals with out it being processed.

I knew a guy that got scraps from a school cafeteria for his dogs(deer running dogs no doubt). He told me they wouldn't give it to him if it was going to be used for pigs. No clue how they would track that. Maybe why they don't give out any spoiled food from grocery stores anymore.

Grape soda over corn. Canned or raw.
