I really don't get or enjoy the jigging pole thing. I've watched the best fisherman I know kill them with nothing but those, but I just don't fish as well with them and even when I can catch on them, I simply prefer using my spinning set ups.

It’s just a pain in the arse using the spinning setup down here

We are throwing at structure with shite all around, and throwing that light of tackle at that precise of a target area is a mess. At least for me

Are you saying that his graphite rods were too heavy?

The first ones made were rolled fiberglass. Those were very heavy.

I use a fly rod with a spinning reel along with a short spinning rig outfit. Depends on what I am fishing. If one ever fished for trout using a cork, just fish sacalait the same way working a jig under a cork. Light wind, bigger cork were a lot of wind, small cork.

Read the bank and look for lay down logs. Cast over, along side of said log and pop, working the jig along side the log.

He probably made rods for 30+ years. Of course the first ones were heavy, probably most rods available on the market were heavy at that time. He later made a graphite model that was probably as light as most modern day long sticks.

I find it laughable that you could even make a comment about JB in regards to sacalait fishing. People here give you a pass on most things but you couldn’t have carried JB’s jock on anything related to sacalait fishing.

I may see you out there. I’ll probably put the yak in around the free launch. Any reports out of there lately Alx?

La Sportsman posted an article today about pre-spawn perch. It may have some helpful info for you.
