I am not against shooting them. I am against people purposefully wounding them and then bragging about it on social media. I like hunting and I want my kids to be able to hunt one day, don't need to give people ammunition to hate it. Just shoot the yote in the vitals and spend 3 minutes dragging it off.

Lead shot is more of an ethical problem to me than a legal problem.
Considering lead was banned in California for upland game bird hunting last year, it is a legal problem. Whether it is to you or not. Now, if they were a game bird club, maybe a different storym. But it will be outright banned in 2 years.
Sure, you can argue that where it's legal it's an ethical problem.
But no one is going to argue that the use of lead in waterfowl hunting is an ethical issue. It's illegal. You can't use it. You could argue that it was banned on ethical grounds, but it's not a matter of ethics anymore. There's a clear right or wrong in regard to waterfowl hunting.

Never mind. It's not worth it.

Correct. July 1, 2019 is the day the full ban goes into effect.
quote:
Effective July 1, 2016, nonlead shot will be required when taking upland game birds with a shotgun, except for dove, quail, snipe, and any game birds taken on licensed game bird clubs. In addition, nonlead shot will be required when using a shotgun to take resident small game mammals, furbearing mammals, nongame mammals, nongame birds, and any wildlife for depredation purposes.

It's not a legal problem on the private hunting club in Gilroy.
I wrote 'private' club earlier to clarify any legal issues.
Nevertheless, lead shot was not ethical to me.
I still ate the pheasant sausage from the processors.
The processors can't take all of the shot out of the sausage I ate, so I guess I should be glad it wasn't steel or I might have cracked a tooth.
