In your experience, is there any performance issues between a gas or inertia driven gun?

I have a turkey gun but I am looking for something more shoulder friendly for doves/clays/occassional duck hunt.

I dont want to spend 1K on a gun. So whats your thoughts on going with a Stoeger, Franchi or finding a used Extrema or an 1100.

Open to discussion and would like to hear opinions.

I've got a Browning Gold and I know a lot of people talk bad about them, but mine has never hiccupped at all. It will shoot the lightest dove load and the heaviest 3.5 inch load back-to-back with no problems and it is really really soft on the shoulder.

If you want to go soft on the shoulder and inexpensive, or relatively so, get on Gunbroker and find a nice twenty year old 3inch magnum Remington 1100.

I shot my dads Winchester Super X3 this weekend and I got to say I liked it better than my Browning Silver 12. Its lighter, better balance, and kicked less. I have to agree with him that its a great gun for the money and the gun will hold up well.

Dad shoots birds from September through January every weekend. Probably 2 cases of shells a year and hasn't had a hicup from his Super X2 or Super X3. He uses the Super X2 as a guest gun now.

Beretta - new or used. Best shotguns out there. Look at the unico xplor light model - dang sweet gun.

I think one of the best guns for the money is the Beretta A390. Won't shoot a 3.5in but its a great gun.

Not sure is serious. I have one that I beat the ever live hell out of and it still works great. It will have a hiccup every now and then but not much, but soft on the shoulder it is not.

Compare the Gold any of the modern ones (Benelli SBE2, Super Vinci, Maxus, Extrema) and it's night and day.

The new ones are much lighter and much softer on the shoulder.

I got a used SX2 a few years ago for $550. I really like it. I do have to run the piston "wet" otherwise it may sometimes not load the second shot. This is while duck hunting shooting 3.5" #2 Experts.
It won't shoot Winchester light loads. It will shoot any other brand though.

I appreciate all the input. I should have added that I want a semi-auto as one of the features.

I will keep my eyes open on gunbroker and armslist.

Thanks again guys.
