Primary use will be rifle hunting but also some during bow season.

I don't hike into my stand very far at all (less than a half mile) so weight and size are not an issue.

anti fog, independent reticle fine focus, and good low light transmission are key. Of course most brands have that now days.

Also not looking to break the bank.

Suggestions?

10x50's are very cumbersome in my opinion.

For $500? You can get Vortex for half that price

Just bought a pair of the lower end Vortex Diamondback 10x50. They had a deal at Bass Pro where you turn in old gear and get a coupon for some good savings. Gave $139 for a pair of binocs that normally are $260.

vortex makes 3/4 different models. the lower model isnt terrible, but its not that good in my opinion.

i have Nikon Monarch 10x42 and love them. especially their customer service at Nikon. they have a lifetime warranty and after 5 years, my latch that holds the harness broke off. called Nikon and they sent me a package to send my binoculars too. a week later, I received a new pair of their most recent model. not just the latch fixed, but a whole new pair of binoculars. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I've been looking at the new Nikon laserforce binoculars. but I had to look at the store model at bass pro. don't know how banged up they were but I wasn't impressed with them. im going to try cabelas and see if it was just that particular pair or if its the binoculars themselves.

I personally think the 10x50's are a little bigger than ideal. 10x42 seems to be that perfect sweet spot (even though you are a large human )

Check out the Maven C.1 they have a 12x42 for $375

I have some 8x42 viper hds, I broke the eye cups on some climbing sticks and sent em in. They fixed the eye cups, serviced em, cleaned the crap out of em, tied my lens covers on to replace my little cheap key rings I had, and sent em back with a sticker. I was super pleased with the whole process and will probably buy vortex anytime it makes sense from here on out.

Sworvs, if they have any like that. My wife worked in the field and I bought her 8x30's. After 20 years one cover cap fell off and the dial dry rotted and broke. Called em up and they said send em back to us and they would refurbish. Six weeks later they returned em to me like brand new. No charge. Little pricey paid 650.00 for em in 95. I'll pass it down to my grandsons.

x2 on the Vortex Diamondbacks 10x50. I use mine for hunting and on the boat. They have been great for the 2 years I've had them.

I'll go ahead and give another vote to the Vortex Diamondbacks. I have the 10×42 Diamondbacks (got them for $125 off Optics Planet last year), and I love them. Great, clear view, and light (I know weight is not a stated issue for you) compared to some others I've handled.

Buddy of mine has them and they're great. They just released the C (affordable) series, before that they were all $1000+

Leupold

My vote is for a pair of Leupold BX-4 Mojaves. I love mine and I have covered a bunch of ground from Louisiana up to Colorado with them. I also think 10x50's are quite large and the field of view advantage isn't worth all that extra weight if you are going to be glassing for long periods.
