So now having a poorly adjusted combine is illegal? What about a really old one? Does the state of LA buy new ones for compliance? I call BS on your assertion. Fed rules say wait 7 days post harvest and hunt away. We "spilled" a lot of corn in certain areas when we harvested. Oops!

Yankee doodle, leaving a certian amount of grain in field regardless of why it was left is illegal. LDWF and feds can drag a seine through youre' field and get a rough estimate of whay you left in it. Doesnt' matter if it was from a mechanical issue or you hitting the bottle hard and spilling a grain cart. It can be deamed unhuntable by LAW.

Planting a field, not harvesting it, and not manipulating is legal to hunt over. Why? Dont' know, but to me it sure seem that is not a normal ag practice and for all practical purposes be baiting.

yes.. the two are not comparable.

you can stand on the edge of well baited pond wearing an LSU football uniform and swat ducks till your shoulder hurts...

try standing in a food plot or feeding station.

Not the same. Deer will sometimes become nocturnal due to feeding. Ducks pour into it. don't try to argue this silly point

I've stood next to one, and when it went off, the deer came running in

like I said, stop trying to justify one

one benefits you, the other doesn't, this is the only reason why you are mad about this

personally, I don't see it very moral or ethical to "hunt" an animal over an unnatural food source, but I understand it serves a purpose for some people. I don't look down on anybody for it, because God knows, I have done plenty of immoral and unethical things

this. i feel the same way about mojos. still use em though.

I asked about this in a symposium once and the answer I got was that if things happen that won't allow a farmer to harvest - they should still be able to hunt... this goes way back to when the legislation was first created..

a few years back BIG chunks of farm land were placed off limits for hunting due to non harvested disking/plowing under of standing crops for crop insurance purposes...

many places - just didn't hunt because they were in effect baited....

many did... very few got ticketed..

first of all I am not mad about either one.....

i have benefited from both.. and I have been hurt by both..

but the two are not the same...

if deer were migratory it probably would be illegal to hunt over bait...

I have a dove mojo I got to see if I could get wood ducks into a hole they normally roost in one morning. Will hunt with a mojo, but usually start complaining to my friends when ducks flare. They always seem to be fricking up some how or another.

Hello Rodney. My season has been ok, cant' complain yet but if the mallards dont' show up by christmas I may or may not get agitated.

GORRILACOCO you have the "IF THEY ARE LEGAL I WILL USE THEM" mentality.

personally I think it SHOULD be illegal for deer...

but.. now there is a whole industry built around deer feeding.... so.... they will win that fight.

I think he is referring to the adjustments on a combine while harvesting corn. One can set the machine so that the majority of grain leaves out the back of the machine instead of going to the hopper.
