Excuse my ignorance but how in the frick will this be possible? Half of my gun purchases are through classifieds like bayoushooter.

right now (in La.) you can sell to me and I can sell to you face to face no questions asked
Future may require going to an FFL to fill out paperwork like you would onlin

Basically they "cant" make you do it.. But id you have a gun in your name you purchased this yr.. And then next year joe blow gets pulled over with that gun and its still in your name and no background check done you screwed

But guns that were in your name previously i dont see how they can say when you sold it.. You could say you sold it 2 years ago "when it was legal". But guns purchased after the date will be the problem because of the paper trail

Something no one is talking about is that NCIS doesn't have the capability at the moment to add 40% workload to an already overloaded system. I was in Clarksburg 2 years ago and they were building 2 new buildings just to keep pace with what they had then.
I know the guys at ICJIS for DOJ are probably shitting their pants at the prospects of having another 7-8 million checks a month.

Exactly. How the hell can you even hope to enforce that? The whole goal of something like that would be to keep guns away from criminals right? Well the why would a criminal voluntarily submit to a background check when buying a gun? He'd have to be the stupidest criminal in the world. They'll just completely bypass the process like they do now.

If it is federal law to do background checks on face to face transfers and you sell to somebody without one and he turns out to be a jackbooted thug ATF agent doing a sting, you are going to prison.

All this gun leg would seem a little more sincere if it wasnt being handed out by the same guys responible for fast and furious. They dont seem to have a prob with criminal with guns, it us they dont like having them based on their record.

The FFL guys are loving this. They are promoting it hard like it will do some good because it will increase their income.

I do not really have a problem with this, if that is all that is involved... worried that this will start a new wave of taxes and fees, and open the door for sales tax on private purchases

How the hell would anyone get a surprise present for their bday? If I were to get one from someone for my bday, I'd hope they knew me enough to know what I want.

Eta: that's what I've always been told and practiced anyway

me too, I have only sold one gun in my life and I would pay double to have it back now
and I have never bought a used gun
where this may affect a lot of people is guns acquired through inheritance

Yep i sold one gun back when i was 18 because it was a youth model 308 and i outgrew it and needed a deer hunting rifle.. So i sold it and bought a 270wsm..i also would pay double to have it back. The only other gun i sold was a browning home defense i won at a drawing.. I sold it because i didnt nee it and was saving for the benelli montefeltro for dove season. So the 2 guns i have sold were to buy 2 more
