I have a 2008 F-250 with the 6.4l diesel. I currently get about 12.5 mpg. I have 35" mud tires that I'm about to replace with stock tires. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the chips or programs for this truck. It just rolled over 100k miles so I'm not under warranty anymore. I know that going back to stock tires will increase mpg, but how much? What about the chips? What's a realistic expectation on this? Thanks, R. Head

You have 2 options

1) Full delete (Should get you in the 15-17 range)
2) Park it

1) What is this you speak of?
2) Not an option

My dad did a bullydog chip and put a wider pipe on his. On the highway he can get up to 26-28 mpg if he puts in the right program.

I got 24mpg after my mods going 70, but you have to at a minimum get studs. No ifs ands or butts about it.

Spartan
S&B intake
Full delete package(egr, cat, and dpf)
Studs
35x12.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs

There are a few other things that you need to get for longevity, but those are the performance mods for mpg. Get ready to spend $5k+ getting set up

Eta: H&S makes tuners and you can also get a SCT with custom tunes from Innovative Diesel or KEM

The only way to get 26-28mpg is going 50 downhill

I didn't like the Bullydog one but was well pleased with the Superchips tuner. Losing the tires will be a big help.

I believe all of those are written for DPF/DOC-on applications. Biggest gains come from when you delete both

Best thing is to get rid of the whole truck while 6.4's are still overshadowed by the 6.0 for the worst motor ever title. You can fix some of the issues with it, but it's a 200k mile motor no matter how much money you throw at it.

I was under the impression that it was illegal to do an emmissions delete on any on-road vehicle that is a 2008-forward year model?

Sign a waiver that you'll only use it off-road and you're good

A combination of smaller low rolling resistance tires, less lift, minimizing turbo boost, bed cover, smaller mirrors, keep weight in truck to a min., mild tune will probably get you up to around 18-19 mpg. Sure you can get 25mpg at 70mph just coasting but you can not average it.
