How old are these reels?

My step paw in law was cleaning out his shed a while back and found these things. Literally still in the plastic, box still sealed. I'm just curious to see if anyone knows about how old they are. He claims he hasn't bought any new reels in at least 20 years.

you could google the model/serial number. a lot of times the year is in the serial. I found an unopened calcutta from 92 that i used this year for saltwater fishing.

I think that Quantum was built by Shimano back in the day.

I'd guess early to mid 90's, maybe older. I have a gold colored Quantum similar to that in 3.8:1 that still works like a champ.

I'd say the ambassadeur is probably from the 80's just from looking at it. And I think the Quantum is from the 90's.

Had own both. They are late 1980's, early 1990's.

I had both. Ambassador is around 82-83 and Quantum is around 1985

Agree that ambassador came out before or right after Abu Garcia 1000 which competed with Lews around 80-82.
I had that exact quantum.
A little nicer than the lower end still nice quantum mag reel.
They built these also to compete with Lews.
One of the few lines that had low speed, medium
Speed, and high speed line of reels.
Actually a very decent reel that one was closer to $89 while less expensive mag was around $49.
I had them and it was a nice reel for the money.
I had that exact quantum.

that Quantum looks unused, keep it in that condition and pass it on, would be worth good money years from now in that condition i imagine
