I've been running through a bit of bad luck with trailer tires here lately and was wondering how long you guys tires normally last.

Are your trailer tires exposed to the sun while parked?
Just like RV tires, the sun kills them long before the tread wears out.

age gets them before tread wear 95% of the time, 5 years is about as long as I'll keep them. Under inflation or overloading the rating can wipe them out in months if not days

Its parked under a metal awning but the sun still gets to it in the evening.

I'm thinking the tires might be old. I bought the boat used 3 years ago.

I'll check the DOT code when I get home.

For mine as well. I pull my boat on several trips that anywhere from 5hrs-13hrs each way a few times a year

If they even look at you funny, I’d change em. I just put Goodyear endurance tires on mine and they seem to be a nice tire.

my travel trailer tires, i'm lucky if i get 5ish years out of them. Boat tires may do ok a bit longer but travel trailers carry more weight i would imagine and greater chance of blowouts and cause greater damage when a blowout occurs.

In my experience 5 years us about as long as any highway rated tire will last. Learned this the hard way with a motorhome trip from New Mexico to Georgia....tires looked like new, wound up buying 8 on that trip LOL...all 6 on the ground and both spares. Thankfully they didn't blow out they just went flat going 60 MPH....they were all a little over 5 years old. I replace everything now at 60 months even if they appear to be like new 'cause who needs that kind of problem when you are fishing / hunting or camping.

RV tires take a BEATING. Even the most well intentioned loading of a TT or MH usually means about a ton of weight not accounted for, almost always unbalanced. I have never (knock on wood) had a problem with my decoy trailer tires and they get some miles on them....but it is always winter so they stay cool and the trailer is very light compared to its rating because goose decoys are more about the bulk than the weight....until you are schlepping them across a weight field LOL...

I’ve set a record on blowouts, fortunately I’m like nascar crew at changing them now. Biggest issue is making sure pressure is right before trips, also Louisiana backroads aren’t very friendly for trailer tires. I have a double axle trailer and have had older tires outlast brand new tires

my blowout happened on a clean blacktop road traveling a chill 50-55 mph. Don't know if it blew partly to cheap arse china tire and/or the heat that day.

Just called my son and had him read me the code on the tires for me.

1114

So that means they were made some time in March of 2014.
Even though they looked good , I guess it was just a matter of time with 6 year old tires.

Pro tip- If you can find bias ply nylon trailer tires they will last much longer than radials (on a trailer). The only thing is for the first 10 miles or so they will go thump until the flat spot is out.

the ones that come on new trailers are often the budget discount 2 ply tires and they only last a year or two at the most. if i had to guess mine lasted around 5k miles and they were bald.

make sure when you buy new ones you buy the 4 ply and try to get the 6 ply if you can. the more ply is has the longer they will last you

Take a look at Prometer ST Radial tires... they come in 6 ply, 8 ply, and 10 ply. Great trailer tires for the price.

I have trailer tires from 2008. Very light load, trailer weighs more than the boat. I am strongly considering an upgrade before my next long haul in October. I don't go more than a couple miles from the house right now, and never even get to high speeds.

Mine are currently a little over two years old and still in great shape. My trailer stays on concrete under my carport.
