Kinda pisses me off that rod makers are all moving away from decent straight grip cork handles. Cant stand that foam BS
I'll buy a crappier rod with a good cork handle than one with a foam one any day.

Can ya move over a bit??
ML for 1/4-1/8-1/16 jigs for plastics and M for up to 1oz fat boys while wading or bigger top water baits.
CORK handles, split gripe pacifically. EVA foam gets slick as owl shite with trout.

My man
Currently running an ML/F HP lite and M/MF salinity from Waterloo. Both with the split grip cork. My one two punch for trout fishing. Both casting rods
I do keep a MH spinning rod for when we want to try and mess with the donkey reds down at the jetties.
I primarily fish big lake like you do.

Salinity is imo the best bang for buck, F spending $600 on a sarge and I told him that
Hell I told Carpenter the same thing when he fished with me (Laguna).

I have a FTU Green Rod that they build at their store in Houston. Damn nice for less than the custom builders in TX

quote:$600 is way too much for me. I’m just a weekend warrior. I still love my salinity’s. If it wasn’t for Mike hooking me up with a deal on an HP Lite I’d still be using my ML/MF Salinity. They don’t make one in that configuration anymore, which is a bummer because it’s a trout slaying machine when paired with up with a good reel

$600 rod that they have <$100 in materials in it.
FTU greenies are <$50 in materials but good buys.
I was given a sarge and gave it back.

Any opinion on TFO pro series or their coastal? The latter is on sale at Sierra.

If it’s a Falcon “coastal” I take interest. Great rods, great price, great American manufacturer. Available at a Walmart and Amazon but same price direct as Walmart and only $8 shipping. Higher at Amazon but free shipping. If you email Falcon you get a reply next day. And no I don’t work there etc. But been fishing 60+ years.

Walmart really carries Falcon?
Posted on 6/12/25 at 5:54 pm to AlxTgr
Yup. Online at least. And for what the manufacturer price is but free shipping. Falcon charges like 7.50 to ship: Amazon sinus pree but you pay more than Walmart or direct.
