How do you know if your property has turkeys?

Any tell tale signs? I've heard they are trying to restore populations in east texas, where the property is, but I haven't seen any on ours. It's about 200 acres, mostly undeveloped with a small pond, creek, overgrown pasture and about half is a mix of pine/hardwood forest.

go out at dawn or dusk and blow an owl or crow call...if there is one within hearing distance, he will gobble...

go out there in march at daylight and listen

just because you haven't seen them, doesn't mean they aren't there. turkeys love pastures, but not overgrown ones

put up a game camera with cracked corn if you are really interested.

Look for feathers, dusting areas in roads, tracks in mud, and the birds themselves, plus turds beneath roost trees.

I don't know about Louisiana but we used to have big birds in Missouri and on my land in Oklahoma. If you have a logging road or what not look for their scratching around the paths like logging roads. Used to slay them around there.

If you have 19 walk out on you while deer hunting like they did to me during Thanksgiving, then you know you have turkey. But be warned, when turkey season arrives, they will disappear.

Like others said

Tracks
White shite at base of trees
And scratching ( if you don't know what that is. Imagine the floor of the woods covered in leaves and pine straw. Now imagine if someone went in there and fluffed it all up.)

The ones on my property in Washington parish make themselves heard very frequently. We see them from time to time in the open field. I get them on my deer cameras. Never seen a tom but the hens aren't too stealthy so I'd say spend some time out there looking for sign and just listening.

Control burn the pasture, and you'll greatly increase your chances of having/seeing them.

Surprised that response took so long. Turkey hunters know they love to burn some shite off
