Hunts have been sub par over the past few years.
But where in Louisiana have the hunts not been subpar the past few years?

I have an annual trip to Doug's near Lake Arthur
I went on a 2-day speck trip there years ago, had a ball goose hunting and we bought a dozen pheasants to shoot in the afternoon.

As you mentioned, it is expensive. However, they kill out of their top end blinds and the lodging is very nice. The problem I have and would include Honey Brake in this as well is you can damn near go to Canada for what it costs to do a hunt in BFE Northeast LA. Is it worth that, I don't know? Honestly, the only places in LA that justify a price tag like that are places that offer afternoon perks like fishing to match the hunting and for me those 2 places are Hackberry R&G and Grosse Savanne.

Well come on down to HRG MWP, would love to take you out for an afternoon fishing trip.
Like i said earlier, you can go to canada for what a weekend at these marginal places in America charge and shoot limits daily. If these places are like most, they have a limit on the hot blinds and the repeat customers typically get those seats.

You work there? I thought you were a solo operation.
I've been going there for years.

Fill in when they past 15 boats, I’m an equal opportunity guide.

Spend that money and go kill ducks up north
That is where the ducks are anyway

For $1000 you can fly to Edmonton, Rent a 4wd pickup, stay in a decent motel out on the prairie, and knock on doors and kill guaranteed limits of waterfowl.
ETA: Honey Brake Lodge and a DIY in an Alberta motel, are about as far from each other as you can get. I didn't mean to suggest that one was somehow better than the other. There is certainly a time and place for Honey Brake. The "Experience" if you will. Being catered to. 4 star dining, cigars on the deck at sunset, etc.
Alberta is about knocking on doors, meeting farmers who might turn into lifelong friends, doing it yourself, and seeing different country. All on a budget.
There's a time and place for both, if you love waterfowl.
