I tend to lean 12 for it's diversity and patterning.

A 20 would be lighter but that isn't really an advantage for sporting clays.

Start him now doing 100 lifts a night, meaning start with the barrel on the floor (with an pad) close the gun and come to a set position.

Do that 100 times.

Kind of curious how my son will do going from 26" to 32" barrel. The weight should be too different but it will take more effort getting those barrels moving.

So we pulled out the LC smith and he was smoking targets. The club was closed on Tuesday so we were shooting on public machines but I am encouraged. I want to see how he does on a trap field with this gun.

Wick, what do you mean “don’t get subgauge barrels for 12ga”? You mean don’t get tubes because they will weigh more?

Or don’t get extra set of barrels.

12 gauge weighs 7#14oz

20gauge weighs 7#4oz

28ga weight not available

I don’t follow your math, wick?

Typically 20 gauge barrels on a 12 gauge frame doesn’t have the handling characteristics as a 20 gauge on a 20 gauge frame

So you’re suggesting to get tubes if I was deadset on multiple gauges?

He’s saying the balance will be off with the 20 gauge barrels on a 12 gauge frame.

The gun just will not swing well.

Wick, got my son’s gun y-day.
It’s a beautiful gun. He did much better shooting it that I thought he would. I was expecting him to hit very few but I think he hit 35 out of 50. He then hit 22 out of 25.

We took the LC Smith back to the club today. This was his first time shooting trap with it, the second time he is shot trap. The first 25 targets was warm up, he shot 21/ 25 and 19/25 the second 2 rounds.

I just ordered Citori CXS White 32”. Opting to let briley handle any stock modifications per suggestion of HS buddy that’s a pro shooter.

I am beyond stoked to get this thing!
