I am over 50 and I work outside every day. I am always careful.
The young everyday beer pounders struggle with heat much more than I.
I love ac.

You should really start drinking plenty water 2-3 days before going out into the sun for an extended period of time.

Yep. I don’t have one of those but back when I was in better running shape I had a hydration belt. It held two 10oz bottles. I’d stick them in the freezer for a few hours. Just enough to get slushy but not frozen. It rode low on my hips and the bottles had squirt tops. I’d just alternate so the weight stayed relatively even. Only reason I started chilling them is that after a couple of miles riding next to your back they’d get warm. I also had two 20oz bottles mounted on my bike and I’d add the hydration belt on longer rides or in weather like this. I run during lunch and there’s a park nearby with restrooms and a water fountain for refilling. I’d generally run anywhere from 3-5 miles and refill both for the 3/4 mile cool down walk back to my office.

Is it really that far out? I'd think 2-3 hours would be the number to shoot for.

Only two times in my life were bad. I went cruising timber once with two other guys. We thought we were just gonna blow through it. Didn't bring water, and had to ride four wheelers to get back to the stand. First line went quickly, but on the second line coming back, we hit water, mud, and palmettos 5-8ft high for maybe 1/2 mile. Had to go back through that shite five more times that day, and then we just gave up. It was too hard to walk through. We were all very close to passing out when we were done. I was on the verge of blacking out, and even though the other guys didn't say it, I know they were too. That never happened again.
Before that, I brought my Camelback almost everywhere. After that, I brought it everywhere, and had an extra bladder in the truck for long days.

We had a trainer from the Saints come talk to my kids baseball team. He said if we playing a weekend tournament to start on Wed or Thursday. 1 extra bottle when you wake up and one before bed. Bigger kids need more water. You should be pissin clear to a light yellow, any darker and you on your way to dehydration.

Pickle juice works for me. I caught that damn stomach flu 3 weeks ago and I got badly dehydrated and heat has been killing me since

What's good for raw taint? Boudreauxs?

I walked around fishing a lake yesterday and started getting pretty raw inner thighs. It really started on fire after my shower. All I had was Neosporin so I smeared it on the offending areas and by morning I was G2G.

Use to compete some in the summer heat and several of us found watermelon to really help in between events and rounds.

It was blistering hot yesterday once the haze burned off after lunch. I let the guys knock off early due to the heat. Body Glide can be put on in the morning to prevent chafing and works great.

Compression shorts under my work pants and watermelon save my life every summer.
I swear watermelon is God's gift to the poor bastards that work outside.
I wish I knew how much I spent on that shite but I know it's a ton. With having my colon removed dehydration is an issue.
Solved with watermelon

I’m gonna have to try watermelon and see if it works. I wear compression shorts and lightweight fishing shorts to help. I wear dri fit shirts as well but I was drenched yesterday and that never happens. I also had some Florida water going but it was just death heat.

Sams has 3 packs of the reebok brand of dry fit type underwear. They are all I wear to work out, fish, or do anything outside. You’ll never chafe or get an itchy sack again.

Wal Mart brand athletes foot medicine. Have that shite cleared up in a couple hours with no burning. Clortrimazole Cream is the technical name.

The newer cool tech shirts also seem to help. Usually forced into working outdoors for about a 5-6 weeks out of the three hottest months so I never truly get adjusted and these have helped considerably. I've got several of the (cheap) Dickie brand since they have a shirt pocket although I'm sure others are just as good. These have helped save my nicer sun (uv) shirts a lot of wear and tear.
*eta: yep - camelback's really help you drink more since it's readily available; however a Yeti cup packed full of ice is a necessity this time of year. Even with having additional cold water around.

Worked on a dock on moss lake yesterday. Older guy out there with us nearly had heat stroke. Couldn’t breath. Threw up on himself. I thought he was having a seizure. We called 911. Put a cold press on his neck and arms. He was fine after a little while but the day went from a good time to potential death quick.
