Rented a cabin for a long weekend for me the wife kids and dog. Bringing my boat so me and jr will be fishing. Any recommendations where to find the slabs this time of year? Also how good is the bass fishing? TIA

Some whites should still be on the bank. Blacks on brush. Behind the island is my favorite bass area. Trees and isolated button woods.

My dad and I used to fish Larto a good bit, we would just find a good looking bank and go down it with a shiner about 3-4' (may be up or down a ft or two) under a cork and fish the blow downs.

We would always catch a good many

Ill be at my camp there this weekend. The spawn fishing has been pretty terrible this year and no one can really explain it. It's the first time in years we can actually fish the spawn without the high water. last week we caught some shallow. Some males and some females full of eggs and none of their tales were torn up or bloody. I try to mainly keep 11" fish or better and have been averaging 10-15 keepers per outing and around 20 throw backs but it should be much better than that right now. If you are spider rigging hit 9 foot of water depth with shiners and if you are fishing shallow use a slip cork with with monkey milk or blue/chartreuse jigs.

The most consistently small fish I can ever remember. But hey, the fun for me is seeing the cork go down, so I cannot say I did not have fun.

Make sure to bring a chrome rattle trap or some type of flashy swim baits. If the white bass are schooling it’s a lot of fun.

Ended up fishing mostly on backside of Saline lake. Caught about 65 sacs Friday afternoon and today. Jr caught one that was 14.75”. Caught most 6-8 ft deep. Had a good time and will definitely be going back.
