Has anybody ever been "delayed" in trying to purchase a gun?

I was going to Gander Mountain today to purchase a .243 Browning Rifle and I was told that the background check was delayed.

Yes every time until I got my carry permit. Sucked at stores like academy that have a policy of requiring a yes from nics, not just a three day.

I did go by the Sherrifs Office today too to sign up for a pistol permit

I've heard people say it causes a delay but I don't believe it has any effect.

I've been delayed but I was out of town and trying to buy a 22 rifle. 1 day hold and I figured it was because I was out of state

I worked the gun counter and gun library at Cabela's while I was in law school in Baton Rouge. I can say with certainty that people with TWIC cards get delayed at a higher clip than people who do not have have a TWIC card. It didn't make sense to me, but that was an obvious trend
