re: Labrador Duck Dog - Male or Female
Posted by Chezwick23 on 3/3/15 at 9:40 pm to Senko
Currently have my first lab. Black Female, British Lab. Went thru the same thing wondering which to get M vs F. My grandfather trained labs for years and I always remember him having males. Males have more drive in with tougher conditions (colder, etc). My female is 9 months and plenty of drive. Making 160 yard retrieves off of a remote launcher. 12 hunting trips a year and family dog I'd go female again.
I picked one of the calmer pups from the litter. When people say their lab is calm, they mean calm for a lab. All have plenty of energy.
Get Water Dog or a newer book. I spent a good amount of time on youtube with puppy training videos and gave our dog a great head start. Highly recommend. Train them every time you feed them, even if it's only 2 minutes. Great start to getting them and encouraging their urge to make you happy and work for reward.

Best affordable Lab duck dog collar?
Posted by Chezwick23 on 2/28/15 at 8:09 pm
Have a female black lab. What is a good priced shock collar? Garmin Tritronics? Etc?
Only have 1 dog, don't need a multiple set up. Best place to get too.
Thanks for the help

re: You have 25-30k budget for a new truck

Tundra all the way. I have a 2013 and love it. Big back seat (I know everyone says doesn't matter if its your truck but driving to the camp, road trips etc it matters). And 2013 and earlier tundras back seat can slide forward and recline. Great on road trips.

Great looking pup. Earlier you start training the better, even if he won't be a hunting dog. YouTube (lab) puppy training videos. Labs want to please. Look up Pat Nolan on YouTube. My lab is 8 months and knock on wood haven't had too many problems. We trained every time we fed her, hungry dog will do anything you want. Good luck!

I'd also spend some time one YouTube. More you do with them when they are puppies the better. A hungry dog is the best dog. Look at Pat Nolan and related videos

Redwing. Go to the redwing store on siegen road in baton rouge. They have a sole machine that looks a pressure points. Bought the insoles that were not cheap but haven't had a problem since. Lace up are way better for support.

He is going to speed with or without a radar detector. This will just make him a more conscious speeder.
I bought one and hate not having it with me.

re: Has anybody ever been "delayed" in trying to purchase a gun?

I've been delayed but I was out of town and trying to buy a 22 rifle. 1 day hold and I figured it was because I was out of state

Thanks for the help. I like the 1 and 2 syllable names, easier while hunting and training for calling out

re: Pretty good generator deal on Black Friday at cabelas
Posted by Chezwick23 on 11/22/12 at 10:28 am to 10Percenter
I got that generator a year ago at around $330 plus or minus. Thought about getting a honda but the 2000 watt generators are $900-1000. I'd rather buy 3 of the champions.
It also has a self shut off low oil gage. All around I like the generator a lot. Good deal for $279. (great hurricane generator)

Surface Drive Mud Motors

Buying a new duck boat set-up / fishing rig. Water on our duck lease is pretty low also want to use this rig for marsh red fishing and bowfishing.
Really I'm between a 36 hp prodrive and a 35 hp gatortail, leaning more towards the gatortail because its faster.
Prodrive will go thru more stuff but gatortail is a faster motor. I'd rather be able to go faster than the full power reverse for prodrive. Plus the prodrive is apprx 140 lbs heavier than the gatortail.
Any body have one and what do you think?
