Anyone have experience with these? I'm not doing anything fancy or welding a lot at all. Will a cheap 120 V harbor freight welder work ok for me for some light duty stuff here and there? Or are they complete garbage?

I really looked into them but even with occasional use they can need a lot of adjusting to get them to run right and still draw enough current to make it unusable on anything but a good 20A outlet. Fronius TransPocket 180MV is a true 120V portable stick welder.

I have used a Miller 120v crackerbox welder quite a bit,and they are jam up,and not all that expensive.
If I were buying, I believe that is what I would get.

I've ran over five spools through a 110v Harbor Freight mig. I only use name brand wire (Hobart/ Miller). It's great for small projects around the house.

Pops has one. Works fine for what it is. As long as you don't expect to be building shite with it it's great. I tripped the thermal protection on dads several times building a gate for a four wheeler trailer and it was frustrating but definitely not a deal breaker at that price point. It's great for patch work and serviceable for the occasional light fab job.

The machine I am talking about uses a small diameter rod (5/32s I think). I don't know about the wire ones.
