I usually go in through 2 o'clock.
A guy at the landing told me that when it's sunny, they're usually in the tree tops. Overcast and they're spread out all over. The guys I saw catching were hitting them pretty hard near the base of some pretty big cypress trees in Cowan, not really the tree tops.

That’s what I’m talking about. I’m gonna have to meet up with you one day over there. You can pull me to Close and I’ll just make my way back.

I've only been out there 4 or 5 times but I haven't seen any yaks out there yet.

I'd pull you on saturday but I have a final project for school that i haven't even started yet. I'll probably be out there on Friday morning, there is a small chance that I go to half moon or little alabama but I kind of want to try my hand at sakalait again

You're bolder than me. I stay a good hundred yards from that bridge when a train is passing

the paddle back is what made me buy a jon and motor. I have a 1436 with a 9.5 johnson on it. both are 1969 models. spent about 400 bucks total on boat, motor, and trailer. really light rig.

i went under when one was passing and I'd be lying if i said i wasn't a bit spooked. i was sure the thing would derail on top of me

Yeah, I didn't even know a train was coming until it was right on top of me. It definitely startled me.

I noticed you stay pretty dry when paddling. Is that a technique thing or an equipment thing? I'm constantly soaked.

From water dripping off the paddle?
Posted on 7/19/18 at 9:12 am to PillageUrVillage
Yeah, my legs are always getting wet from paddling.

Probably more of an equipment thing for me. Does your paddle have drip guards? I also use a long paddle, so I don't have to lift too high when paddling. This helps keep the water from running down the paddle.

It does have drip guards. Specs say it's a 230 cm paddle. Not sure if that's on the small side or not.

Cannon Wave Slider
This is the paddle I use. However, it's not exactly the same. This one is 240-260cm adjustable. The one I have is 250-270cm adjustable. Apparently they don't sell that one anymore, cause I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Most of the time when I have the seat in the high position, I have it all the way extended. So, 270cm. That's almost 9 feet.

I've been wondering what the issue is. I just kept thinking - there's no way I could do this other than in the summer unless I had rain gear

I’ll still get a little wet, though. But not bad.

I need to get in to big or little alabama soon to start looking for places to hunt. I went bream fishing in there back in may with little luck. there weren't many people in little alabama even on the weekend. i think most of the boat traffic goes to big alabama.
They must be launching on the south end or fishing later, because the last several times I've been out scouting for bow season, there have been 1 or 2 trailers parked at the launch. Always seemed to me that more people were at Little Alabama than Big.

Ive been to half moon once, think i caught one or two bass. Nothing great. All the times Ive fished Pillage's favorite spot, still only one total bass in the 8 or so trips. A ton of bream tho. The ole lady loves it there. Brought Pillage in my little boat once, thinking he would show me the spots. But instead he took me to all the bad spots. Hes stingy, that one
