Sorry. Yes, the boat launch itself. I'm not aware of any spots along the bank. There's a road that goes a good way along the eastern side. I supposed you could put in along there somewhere, but I don't think you'd have any shoulder to park your vehicle.

Gotcha.
Loading back in my truck is the biggest pain. My yak is 75 lbs and the incline doesn't really help things

If you are talking about Little Alabama, no. The driveable portion of the road stops at the dove fields. Beyond the gate, you cannot drive. And along the stretch you can drive, there is no where to launch. You could probably manage further back, but getting a kayak back there would be a giant PITA.

We used to tear up the barfish when the shad were schooling like that. Just cast a chrome rattletrap through the shad and hang on.

That’s what I figured. I have never tried to access that area.

I deer hunt back down that road, and I hunt the dove fields in September, so I walk it quite a bit. When I fish Little Alabama, sometimes I actually pull up to the bank to fish. There is a bit of a shelf on that side that you can pull up on, you just can't launch anywhere that you can pull up to with a truck because it's a 3 or 4 foot drop off from the bank to the water. That, and all of the horsetail just don't leave any good areas to launch.
I've thought about rigging a bike up to pull my pirogue down the road to some of the areas that I think you could launch, but just seems like more work than it's worth.

Hey man, stay out of my area...lol!
That area is stacked with hogs unfortunately. I was within bow range of hogs on 8 of my first 12 hunts last year in archery, and actually stalked up on a sounder in the middle of that dove field and killed one at 20 yards.
ETA: you ever want to compare notes on that area, let me know. I hunted those pigs so much last year that I know them like they are my pets...if I wanted to annihilate my pets that is.

There’s a spot in Sherburne that I really want to scout. I don’t know if it has a name. I read about it on some kayaking website a long time ago and I went and found it on the map. There’s supposedly a launch at the end of the section 120 road and you can basically paddle into the swamp. Looks very accessible from the map. But I don’t think I want go exploring unknown territory tomorrow. It’s gonna be too damn hot for that. Maybe when it cools down.
Any of y’all know that area? Any fish there?

I hunted off of iron gate road last year since i didn't have a boat yet. unfortunately i saw more hunters than game. sign was everywhere though. Is there a lot of bottom land off of little alabama? I like hunting ridges when there is water on the ground. easy to find the oaks. I was looking at topos and it looks like there are a lot of low spots.
I almost like eating hogs more than eating deer. I kill 4 or 5 does a year on private land in mississippi so I'm primarily targeting hogs at sherburne.

I know where you are talking about, but I have never scouted back there. I know in hunting season there are a lot of people back down section 120 Rd, and at that launch. I road back down there a few times and there were several trucks back there. Probably more in duck season than anything.

Section 120 is where most people duck hunt. Usually see the deer hunters come in around 10:30ish.

Ok, so I’ll stay out of there during waterfowl seasons. I’ll try to check it out one day when it isn’t 3000 degrees out.

The west side of Little Alabama has some good bottomlands. The east side has a big swamp about 3 miles back in there, but found a good bit of flagging as well. People come in all the way from Big Alabama Road to get back in there based on the flagging I found. And there is an ATV trail that goes up in there from the south.
I found some decent sign back in there, but not sure how much effort I want to put into that just yet. May save it as a backup.
I wouldn't say that you would find much in the way of ridges, persay, but there are quite a few drains in there, and some of them have pretty high banks on them. Damn oaks are everywhere back in there though.

If you launch off the left launch off 120 and stay left, there is a levee down there you can walk. But if you kill be prepared to get wet.

I am going to be buying a game cart to keep on my boat so that should increase my range a bit. I hate dragging deer more than 100 yards lol. where i hunt in MS it's all private land and usually close to a highway. had one die on the shoulder last year and just drove up to it.

i walked a little ways down one of the drains on the west side today. I also walked a little ways in where the log jam keeps you from boating any further. I think that's about .7 miles from the road. I didn't want to go too far in flip flops lol. Hog sign everywhere. was mainly looking for persimmon trees but didn't spot any

I’m mainly looking to hit up that area that opens up to see if there’s any fish. Like I said, I’d have to scout it cause I don’t know how deep it is or if there’s any fish there. Worst case I catch no fish, but hopefully still enjoy a scenic paddle.

If that's the same area I'm looking at on OnX, that area looks very green with a narrow boat trail running up to the open area.
