I’m in need of a new safe for my guns that didn’t flood with Harvey. What brands/models have y’all had good luck with?

Don’t have much expierence with them outside the one we have at the ranch which is a Fort Knox. Never had any issues with it and seems sturdy enough.

I must’ve been the one referring to steelwater safes. Very sturdy, well built and free garage home delivery. Couldn’t be happier with it. The cheaper you go, the less minutes the fire rating and the lower the temperature. Also the steel is thinner.

Whatever size you think you need, get at least one size bigger.

Cannon is earned by business for life after using their awesome warranty after the flood here last year

I’ve got the Liberty Colonial and couldn’t be happier.

If I did not already own a Liberty, I would own a Cannon due to the flood.
My dad's safe flooded. I called Cannon, emailed them 2 pictures, they sent a brand new one 6 weeks later. One week before delivery, they called and said that they made a mistake and were backordered on dad's exact model, could they send a much upgraded model that week.
I called Liberty after the flood, they transferred me to the sales department, no lie.
Mike Wards got with Liberty and got a promotion going. I give them 100% credit for doing their customers right. I bought my new Liberty from them and couldn't be happier.

They did the same to me... my model was discountiued so they upgraded me at no charge

If you’ve had one you probably know this, but get bigger than you think you need and get a good digital keypad rather than a manual dial. Spinning that dial gets old in a hurry, especially if you are in and out often.

Oddly enough I’ve been debating between Cannon and Liberty and the price difference is significant. I’m not sure if it was worth it. Insurance actually paid close to value on the flood policy so I’m not to worried about another flood.

How much did your insurance policy rise due to the claim?

You should buy a Liberty. I know Cannon gets praise here because of the flood warranty but I am not sold on them.
I researched lots of them before I bought my Liberty Franklin and in the end it was the best one. Look at the fire curves on how hot they get and how fast. Thats the key. The slower it takes to heat up the better. Most of the big box brands like Cannon in a fire get way too hot way too quickly.
I have bolted mine to the floor and built walls and shelving around mine. Its as safe as its can be, so I only worry about a fire with mine.

It increased about 10%, but well worth it after this. I could pay the premium for the rest of my life and still come out ahead.

Cannon gets decent reviews, but in my humble opinion and research, Liberty is the best.

Yes, you were who referred to Steelwater. I researched that company and will buy from them soon.
