I would say that the police already have way too much authority to "protect themselves".

Didn't miss it. So Tuscaloosa does not have an ordinance and the video was wrong?

I'd say she don't know Marshall County or G'ville too well. Maybe she needs to get out of Wonderland every now and then and understand her constituents.

She's done after this term...if they don't recall her for this.

The video said that Tuscaloosa already has a similar ordinance in place?

I'm pretty sure the video is incorrect.

quote:

"No incorporated municipality shall have the power to enact any ordinance, rule, or regulation which shall tax, restrict, prevent, or in any way affect the possession or ownership of handguns by the citizens of the state. The entire subject matter of handguns is reserved to the State Legislature. This section shall not be construed to limit or restrict the power of a municipality to adopt ordinances which make the violation of a state handgun law a violation of a municipal ordinance to the same extent as other state law violations."

quote:

No county or municipal corporation, instrumentality, or political subdivision thereof, by ordinance, resolution, or other enactment, shall regulate in any manner gun shows, the possession, ownership, transport, carrying, transfer, sale, purchase, licensing, registration or sue of firearms, ammunition, components of firearms, firearms dealers, or dealers, or dealers in firearm components. (b)(1) Subsection (a) does not affect the authority of a municipality has under law to regulate the discharge of firearms within the limits of the municipality or the authority a county has under law enacted prior to August 1, 2000, to regulate the discharge of firearms within the jurisdiction of the county ”

I agree...when you go from salting fries at McDonalds to waving guns at people there is always a chance of something going horribly wrong.

I'm 100% positive the good cops get tired of hearing this kind of stuff but it is true. The good cops should do a little house keeping and make an effort to change the stereotype.

truth. I live about 45 minutes away from G'ville. They are not going to take very many guns away in that area.

If self preservation is something they care about, I doubt the PD is going up in those hills asking for guns anytime soon.

Ask the people of Orleans and STP how confiscating guns plays out after a disaster.
