An excellent idea. You, sir, are a genius.

I suggest a child must have those 2-3 hours under their belt every year in order to be promoted to the next grade.

me too, but if you put 2 and 2 together. Just think about it. Billion rounds of ammo bought up by Homeland Security, 17 trillion in debt and growing and no sign of ever climbing out of it. :tinfoilhatgif: I think the gun control push is to disarm the citizens because the government knows the economic collapse is inevitable and is just kicking the can down the road, until they disarm enough of us to feel safe. Then the collapse happens. you can call me crazy, conspiracy theorist, nutjob wacko. I dont care. You can ignore reality all you want but you can not ignore the consequences of reality.

No, but I think it is reasonable for someone to have to take a couple hour course on how to handle a firearm before purchasing. A little education goes a long way and this would be a small sacrifice.

And the anti-gun rights crowd would rig the bureaucracy to where very few people pass.

Tempting but no. Gotta draw the line somewhere, and they've already taken enough of my gun rights.

What have they "taken"?

I own a shotgun and a handgun. I see no reason for the fear of background checks. If it keeps a known psychopath from obtaining a firearm I am for it.

Magazine restrictions are a slippery slope but if your Glock magazine is so long that it looks like an Uzi or Mac-11 I have to ask why?

No. No more compromises. No more concessions. No more gun control in any form, fashion or for any reason. No to registrations, no to more background checks, no to more magazine bans, no to banning certain types of ammunition. Just, no.

I fail to see why making sure everyone who purchases a firearm has some level of competency with it. I'm talking no worse than an NRA course.

I will give as honest an answer as I can.

I have nothing to hide. I simply wish to have as much freedom as the Constitution expresses that we should have, as a birth right.

I do not feel that someone's irrational fears, should infringe on my rights. Or that some narcissist should have the ability to take away a freedom, because he/she doesn't think I need it.

Once again, teach firearm safety in school. It is not without precedent.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with teaching safety, when it's a right to possess them. For those opposed, make it an elective and not mandatory. It would likely reduce accidental deaths where people handle them incorrectly. Schools should be partnering with the NRA and like organizations and getting certified instructors teaching students. Firearms without firing pins could be used in schools, and to further the elective, schools could get with gun ranges, and have after hrs credit established as well, under parental consent and supervision of course. It's a win/win for all. Kids learn safety and respect, schools teach more Constitutional Rights, local businesses have future clients.

I would be for that but it is a pipe dream in the areas that really need it. I'm not from Louisiana but I appreciate the culture of firearms and hunting here. A lot of parents take the time to pass on their firearm knowledge to their kids and it pays dividends. We all know it isn't those kids who are educated and live in a household that proper secures their arms that cause the problems. You may disagree with my idea of implementation but I am sure you agree that more education can go a long ways.
