In the market for a new grill. Don't do a ton of smoking, mainly just burgers, steaks, etc. I've always been a charcoal guy, but I'm open to charcoal, gas, and pellet. If anybody has some pros/cons about each or different brands that would be appreciated. Would like to keep it around $400 give or take.

Went to academy last night and they had a nice combo grill. one half was a gas grill the other half was a blackstone.

I have 2 Weber performer deluxe. I love them. The built in table and wheels make it worth the extra cost to me. On one of them I have a rotisserie. Cranks out some great food.

Got rid of my Webre for a Blackstone griddle. Superior in everyway to a gas grill. It does not replace charcoal or a smoker.

Rec-Teq bullseye. Pellet grill, $399 price tag, smokes from 225° and goes all the way to 750° for searing steaks. Gets to temp quick, easy on the pellets, has plenty of room for steaks, burgers, pork butts, etc.

Sounds like a Weber Kettle is what you need. You can do pretty much anything on them. If you are just grilling burgers, hot dogs, steaks, etc then they are perfect for that and they don't break the budget.

Pit Boss

Was doing some looking and found this pit boss for $175… I feel like I’m missing something. I know it’s smaller but shouldn’t this be more expensive?

If you can get a Weber Genesis 2 for around $400 I would definitely scoop it. I have one and it’s been great. Use it all the time for quick chicken and week night meals when I don’t feel like messing with Charcoal

A wise man once told me, you don't put fruit in your beer unless you have a vagina or the scurvy.

Cooking on a gas grill is very similar to the beer statement.

Charcoal or pellet at the very least.

A genesis is like $800. He can probably get a Spirit for $500.

I have a Weber Spirit that's around 8 yrs old. All I need or want in a gas grill. I do think the RecTec Bullseye is a good deal in OP's price range and has the capability to smoke on it as well.

Damn, what a deal. Jump on this OP, if you can find either. Both grills are great, low maintenance units. I think I’ve cleaned my Spirit once in 3 years.
