Water and willow oaks will drop acorns that woodies love.
Mulberries will attract lots of birds.
Buttonwoods provide cover.
Put some wood duck boxes on the far end.

pine. grows fast and drops needles so that you don't have to worry about grass/weeds on the bank.

Every pond should have at least one weeping willow tree.

Crape Myrtle
Azalea
Gardenia
Along with the trees mentioned, these should give you some color around the water which is really pretty with the reflections, spring through fall.

There's an old established one on the property line with my next door neighbor and the only thing it drops is flower petals (is that bad?) and leaves, which all deciduous trees do. I think it's gorgeous in the summer. It never gets trimmed or "crape murdered" it just grows like a tree, probably 30 ft tall. Planted in the 90's.

Weeping Willow, without a doubt. A slight angle to the water!
