Have had to change the vapor canister on a few GM SUVs for this same problem. Stop topping off when you fill up and you shouldn’t have to do it again.

I've got the same issue on an 08 Suburban and haven't had time to repair it yet, but did find the youtube video. Huckleberry has it all right.

So I finally got under the car and cleared the lines. I was able to disconnect the vent lines on the tank without disconnecting the filler neck to access everything. Note that having a near-empty tank makes this much easier - mine had about 5 gallons in it and was almost too heavy.
