My truck got stolen over Thanksgiving along with my Browning A bolt .300 WSM and my T/C Encore (.35 Whelen.) I should be getting the insurance check within the week and need some suggestions for replacements. What ya got?

Did you keep those 2 rifles in your truck at all times?

I'd get the same 2 you had already. Both are in my deer arsenal.

Hell to the no. I was off for several days and was bouncing around btw where I grew up and my girlfriend's house and basically had my life packed in it. It happened in Memphis at the gf's. They took nearly $6K worth of stuff. It's been a headache from hell. They even took my dog carrier. It was an 07 Yukon FWIW.

Memphis, When I lived in north MS I never went to that place without some heat. frickers will walk up to your truck in the road in some places.

I'd go Weatherby Mark V if money wasnt an issue or Remington 700 if it was.

Probably a .270 if jus for deer, .300 if i planned on bigger game.

And whose alter are you, really?

I was thinking about getting the T/C again just because I've got a .308 barrel and muzzleloader for it already. I'll prob get the .35 barrel and another. I was thinking maybe 7mm 08, but it's pretty similar to the .308 I've already got. Might use the remainder to get a pistol.

Seriously considered this gun. I've always wanted a Weatherby.

I like the looks of the gun, but I've heard concerns about the plastic magazine... You own one?

I'm seriously no one's alter.

ETA: The more I think about it, it seems like my best option is to get the T/C again, and use the rest on a carry weapon. I've delayed getting one for far too long.

one of my professors had a buddy that killed a guy in a shootout in memphis. i always thought that was an awesome story. it was some type of gang-initiation that didn't go the way the young blood had planned.

The fact that the magazine is plastic is of zero concern to me. I've heard this "concern" being kicked around and I just cant understand why it would be a problem. I'm not crazy about where the mag release is, however.
