Personally I'd never carry a gun unchambered. When it hits the fan, its going to happen fast and the one second it takes to rack the slide could mean life or death.

This.

You guys do realize that no one here is saying that you should not carry with one in the chamber, right?

Also, if you're engaged with someone you might only have one hand free or one hand injured, making it harder to chamber a round (although possible with training).

Interesting. How is that done?

I also wanted to post the video of the guy trying to pull his gun and firing a round through his leg. This would probably be me if I were to try and do the wild west quickdraw with a chambered gun.

Press gun/rear sight firmly into your side right about your belt and push down. If done properly the rear sight was catch on your belt/waist light and you can cycle the gun's action.

Yes. We just think it's a really, really bad idea.

I can imagine what you think of having no gun at all.

This thing still going. I done got a haircut and weedeated the yard since my last post.

Yes you can chamber a round one handed with a little practice and the right technique. I prefer using the back of my boot than my waist though.

Actually, I don't concealed carry, or open carry. I'm aware of my surroundings and my first option is always to run.

I'm not trolling - just came to the discussion late.

Then you're post makes even less sense. It's a bad idea to carry without a loaded chamber, yet it's not a bad idea to not carry at all. Wowzer.

You could always carry one gun exposed without a round chambered and one concealed that's locked and loaded. Best of both worlds.

So is the consensus that if you don't carry a gun, it's cool, you'll be fine, but if you do you better be completely and perfectly prepared for every possible scenario that ever could or couldn't happen to you, otherwise it's pointless, and you might as well not have one. Because having a to rack the slide on a gun is the equivalent of pointing your finger at someone and saying "bang!"

Amirite?
