I guess mostly for the open carry guys. Do you get approached at the gas stations or other parking lots by the folks begging for money?

I ask because I am sick of the begging by these drug using fools. I have open carried in the past but do not do it all the time. In the past 2 years I have been approached by 2 different guys at the gas station, one asking for cash to get home from his IT Job interview, and the other to get to his mom's house. Well lit nice open gas station. The other was a lady at dollar general parking lot. She walked up to my car window as I sat in the parking lot waiting on my wife. She just straight up asked for cash. A guy at walmart came up to me in line asked if I was paying in cash, I told him no and he ran out. I just thought that was weird, I actually wanted to ask him a few questions but he bolted. Then today A guy pulled up next to me on the other side of the gas pump. He walked around and came up close asking for cash. $11.35 to be exact. Something to do about his daughter and some tires he had to get to her. He was an older man, reminded me of Morgan Freeman, but none the less came a bit too close asking for cash with an odd story. Then tonight I come to find out someone I know last night came out a gas station, got in his car, and then a guy from the back seat grabed his shoulder telling him to drive. Gave him a destination, mile or so away. He did so and saw cops near a crashed car on the way back. He stopped and told them. Turned out to be the guy from the crashed car.
Do you open carry guys ever have this problem?

I don't know anyone who open carries. Though when I get another pistol and a paddle holster I might slip it on when walking to and from the truck or stopping at a gas station or something like that at night.

Wow. That's a good reason to always lock your truck

great reason to lock up. But the thing is we all get used to normal everyday things that never pose a threat. Then out of the blue, it is upon you, when you least expect it.

I've never carried a handgun in public. If I'm in a very shady place I keep my door open and my pistol where I can grab it quickly but you can't see it, and all the other doors are locked. I would feel like I am inviting trouble if I open carried.

I've only seen one person open carry in my life, and he was a complete total absolute dumbass. As much as it pains me to say it, that guy should not be able to legally touch a firearm.

I keep a handgun beside my seat. Besides the fact that I carry large sums of cash sometimes, I left my gun at home once. That one time was a few months ago and I had to punch 2 Canadian guys and haul arse before I got shot at. Now it stays right beside me

Man I feel your pain. They wait until you get to the gas pump so you have your wallet out. One of my friends doesn't pump gas without his CC and I think I'm going to start doing the same.

To answer your question, no I don't open carry but I'm fed up with these bums too.

I was with my dad one time in Mandeville and he open carries a decent amount. Had one guy come around the passenger side of his truck, where I was sitting, and the other guy walked right up to him(about 2 feet away). My dad punched him in the throat and drew down on him. The guy started freaking out and ran inside and complained about it and his buddy just took off down the road. In hindsight, I dont think the approaching guy ever saw his pistol before the incident, but he GTFO afterwards.

He got what was coming to him because when we left, my dad just called one of his sheriff buddies and told him about the incident. He ended up bringing him to jail for loitering and resisting arrest.

Who knows what could have happened, but it could have definitely turned bad pretty quickly.

I always have my pistol very accessible when I'm at a gas station or such. Especially if I'm not in my town where I know most folks.

today was at Texaco hwy59 Mandeville 430. Not shady or late, but not the worse of begging either. I keep one in the vehicle but I think I may start slapping it on "open carry" as I pump gas. May keep the beggers moving on.

They came up on me when I came out of the store, because of the words we had before I walked in. I tried to get in my vehicle and one punched me in the back of the head. I popped him and pushed his buddy off his bike and hauled arse

I know. That's always how it happens. Somebody's gonna get me one day, but I just don't like having a loaded gun on me or around me when I'm not using it. I had it DRILLED into my head my entire life that you do not load a gun unless you're using it and I can't get past that mentality.

One thing I have definitely noticed and started doing RELIGIOUSLY is that if there are two gas stations next to each other and one is 5 cents less a gallon than the other, DO NOT GO TO THAT ONE if you don't like dealing with trash. No trash will be at the more expensive one because they do not stop there. I will pay the extra dollar a tank to avoid listening to blaring rap music and getting harassed by bums. Another thing I

Exactly. But as far as carrying a loaded weapon. I keep a clip full, but don't chamber one unless I feel threatened.

If I did carry one, it would be ready to rock instantly. If I ever have to draw a gun on somebody, I don't want them to be able to call my bluff. If it gets to that point it will be cocked and the slack will be out the trigger.
