My plots could use the rain to revitalize after the deer have been in there chowing down for the last few weeks until the acorns started falling.

We got a nice rain here (West TN & North MS) y-day and Thurs/Fri.

I was so late getting seed out because there really wasn't any need to try and put it out due to lack of rain.

Hoping that will get some if it growing. I didn't put out what I normally do. Just put out turnips and rape. I already had wheat out from earlier (dove) that was growing some.

I've been kicking up mud on the roads north of Centreville and Woodville for over a week. And we have beaucoup rain coming early next week. I may dump my leftover seed in spots this weekend. The real problem has been the acorns. About once every 5 to 7 years the white oaks rain down and that is the case this year. We dialed back our feeders yesterday until they play out. In other words, plots will be secondary to the deer for the next several weeks, at a minimum.

Last Thursday (11/21) was the first rain at my place since Oct. 25!

Same at my place; I don't expect any traffic in my foodplots until Christmas. But acorns may be what saved my plots this year - they've been relying on dew for moisture and haven't put on much growth and heavy browsing could have knocked them down to the point they couldn't recover.

It has been really humid when it wasn't raining so the dew has helped. We also got lucky with a pop up shower two weeks ago on Saturday. My biggest worry was the freeze, but it looks like we got enough growth ahead of it to allow the plots to survive. Overall, I'm not complaining. It's certainly been worse in the past.

Not bad considering we haven’t added any fertilizer and got 0.27” of rain this month. Central Louisiana

Our plots look fantastic this year. No till drill. We fertilized 2 weeks ago and they jumped up again. This photo was taken this past Saturday.

What’s everyone using for fertilizer and how much per acre roughly? All our plots are 1/4 acre to 1/2 acre with one being close to 1 acre.

We use triple 13 and spread at 250lbs per acre.

I’d put out 300 lbs per acre at planting and then come back 4-6 weeks after germination with 100lbs per acre of 46-0-0 or 34-0-12 (must be put down right before a good rain)

I'm really looking forward to getting to my place this weekend. I put out Urea 2 weeks ago and haven't been there since. I'm assuming my plots are finally putting on some growth.

Hoping they’re not on the side of a hill with the belly washer that came through earlier. They’ll be 2’ deep washouts through the hillside plots.
