Fishing the Caribe Boat Docks in Orange Beach

We are staying at the Caribe in Orange beach next week. I was wondering if anyone has any experience fishing off of the boat docks behind the resort? Does that area hold any trout, redfish or flounder? Thanks

Youre better off renting a pontoon boat, driving north east on the IC, and hanging out and drinking a bushwacker or 8 at Pirate's cove

I used to catch tiny mangroves and bunch of hardheads off those slips with cut bait on the bottom. Had a bull red come cruising through at one point and he slapped at a doa under a cork but didn't take it. Others around me caught a few spanish mackerel, hardtails, and ladyfish on sabiki rigs. During the day you could see sheepshead picking barnacles but never hooked one. Never saw any trout caught there.
Took a guided trip and we caught bigger mangroves and nice sized flounder off an artificial reef within view of our condo. Ended up with a few white trout and slot reds, but no specks. I'd imagine you can catch just about anything if the wind and tide is right. This was all in August and water was really clean.

my folks used to live there. I caught a bunch of doormat flounder that would lay on top of those rocks on the shoreline. When I brought my boat, I would fish the dock lights at night behind Ono Island and always catch limits of big trout and some reds.

Same here. We would fish here in the evenings when staying at the Caribe. You can pick up live shrimp at the Marina next door if you want. It's fun and easy fishing for the kids. We have always caught something every time we have fished.

Yeah I never took it too seriously, just something to do while drinking a few beers and enough stuff biting to keep it interesting.
