Looking to try and make a fishing trip in early-mid October out of South Louisiana. It’s a bachelor trip, so I want a group of five to have a blast. I’m wanting to charter a trip, so we all can have fun and give zero fricks about drinking.

Would it be better to focus inshore for Reds/specs or go out and shoot for the moon? I have never been fishing for tuna or sword fish. That time of year might be bad for both options I really wouldn’t know. The only time I have been inshore fishing down there is late October-early November.

Any advice would help.

Inshore fishing should be great that time of year.

Book a trip with bow fishing unlimited and voodoo charters.

Inshore is great that time of year. I would look into doing a blast and cast.

Teal season is September and big duck season doesn’t open until mid-November.

OP, I would definitely do inshore. Great time of year for inshore and you have a lot lower chance of a cold front making for a miserable or cancelled trip than going offshore

If yall want to fish on the same boat you will have to do offshore. Fall is my favorite time to fish. Specks are normally inshore and you dont have to make a far run to get to them

Do y’all think we can get 5 people in a boat inshore fishing?
My best man has a bay boat, and we have been out of shell beach fishing the marsh in late November in it. I want that to be last case scenario. I would rather us all have a great time, and not have to worry about the boat, getting drunk, and then cleaning fish.

Edit: we were thinking going out of Venice if we were going out for bigger species. My best friend is good friends with a few captains out of Shell Beach.

I think you will need 2 boats for inshore.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I had rather us all be in the same boat, and have a great time together.
What is there to actually do off shore that time of year?

If I was going to shoot feathers on my bachelor trip I would rather fight the fiancée tooth and nail about pushing the wedding back until next fall. That way we might could get a bird/duck hunt down in South America.

Have you looked into those Chandeleur boats? Yall could split up onto 2 man skiffs and fish half day and switch around at lunch.

Probably not. I’ve been on a bowfishing trip with a group of 5 before and it was fine. 5 is probably too crowded dealing with casting on a bay boat

Elton with Catchdat charters is doing inshore fishing trips out of a 28ft boat, that can handle 5 fishermen. Dularge area.

Saltgrass Outdoors in Buras can handle your party. Cool lodging, good guides. Been 4 times now, they know what they're doing.

I would go to Big Lake south of Lake Charles and do a Blast and Cast Combo and then hit the casinos. Inshore in Big Lake is really good in October. Casinos at night with great food and other entertainment.
