Can I just pull up to the side of the snake river and cast some lures out? I have some mini zebcos I might pack. Going next week.

Call the Wyoming Dept of W&F and inquire. Make sure you’re fishing public land and have a license

Yeah. There are lots of camp sites and plenty of public access on the Snake. Just make sure you have all your licenses and that you know all the rules. The Snake is a fairly big river. It's a lot easier to fish in a row boat with a guide (there's a million) than it is to wade.

There are much easier places than the Snake to fish if you want to wade.

I'll see what's available when I get there.

Flows out of the dam are going to be significantly decreased by 9/30 so the river will be much smaller in size than the summer. There is no camping on the river. Gold panther martins.

Wilson bridge has great access.

I had a buddy catch limits of rainbows and brown on the Snake in Feb. He used a fly rod but he just floated chunks of corn (artificial?) on a hook on the top of the water.

He also drank his weight in Jaegermeister.

There is an Orvis in Jackson Hole, they can give you some insight on flys and river locations.

Guides are pretty expensive. Driving south toward Pinedale has some rivers to fish as well if you aren't dead set on Snake.

You can fish anywhere you can access the river but finding access is not always easy, often times you’ll have to walk. There’s a couple spots that are easy but will obviously be busy. There’s fly shops all over, stop into one and they can show you a couple spots but they likely won’t be hidden secrets.

Just leaving Jackson Hole today. We fished the snake for 13 miles and caught a bunch of whiteys and a handful of cutthroats. They seemed to be biting on just about everything

Who did you go with? Can you recommend someone? Kinda going in with no specific plans.

We went with reel deal guide service out of Jackson. Our guides Tim and Ian put us on the fish and were a lot of fun to hang out with. Tim is actually an LSU grad so that was a bonus. Would highly recommend

I understand you might not want to spend a lot of money, but you owe it to yourself to experience a drift boat trip on the South Fork of the Snake River. One of the classic trips in all of the outdoors. You also might want to fish YNP. There’s some good places to hike back into and fish.

Its not about the money. Im taking my father in law. We kinda booked it last minute with no plan. He mentioned something about horseback riding but we can do other stuff also. I just dont want to be ripped off.
