Anyone know how the bass fishing is around Delcambre canal and the tributaries that’s feed into the canal? Taking the boat out tomorrow just to run it really. Never fished that area. Was wondering if bass fishing was decent there. Or maybe by avery island

Not too good for bass fishing. But if you find clean water in dead end canals with drains you might find some fish.

Redfish galore but never caught bass nor known someone who has. FWIW I have a camp on the canal.

you think "redfish galore" even right now with the salinity levels? vermilion bay is like .6 ppt right now
for the record: i do mostly salt water fishing and didnt plan on venturing out too much tomorrow. was thinking bass because of the freshwater.

I caught 6 reds near the shrimp processing plant last Monday. Tuesday I caught a 45lb catfish and two keeper reds off my dock. Talked to a buddy today and he caught a few reds and cats off my dock. My speculation is that salt dome at lake peigneur causes enough of a salinity spike to keep the reds happy.

Bump. Gonna take the kids and wife riding this weekend at the canal and this will be my first time fishing the area. Is it a safe run from delcambre ramp to vbay?

Does Lake Peigneur get most salinity from the salt mine disaster? Or from the gulf?
Dumb question.
Also, did the disaster Cause a positive brackish water ecosystem for fishing?

Good question. I’d like to also know the answer ? And why someone would do that as opposed to launching at Quintana. Unless you looking to boat ride or burn gas.
