Impressive.

Really clean range (exact opposite of Precision) and full time RSO (also the opposite of Precision - the place where you can get guns pointed at you almost every trip).

Th only negative was the $22/day range fee - it's higher than Precision ($18/day). But Range USA offers an option of $25/month for unlimited use (all day, every day). Plus they give you a box of ammo (Magtech) when you enroll in the monthly membership plan.

I've been shooting at Precision for 6-7 years. I had hopes that the new owners would make the place safer, but it's worse than ever. The RSO at Range USA was really paying attention to all the shooters (didn't see him correcting anyone).

I looked at gun prices as I was leaving Range USA. They had a huge selection of handguns, and the prices looked to be in line with Academy. They also had aisles full of ammo - didn't look at the prices.

Overall I was impressed. I wasn't aware that Baton Rouge had such a nice range.

How is the selection of targets offered? I've only shopped there an haven't used their range.

They have a pretty nice selection of firearms. Last time I was there they had a WASR underfolder for $1169. I miss the days of cheap imported AKs.

Precision Range has a completely different crowd from daytime to night. I haven't been at night in a few years, but can imagine how crazy it is now.

I had my own targets, so I didn't pay any attention to their target selection. There was a big rack with 6-8 different large (3'x2') targets sitting next to the check-in/check/out cash register.

I think that's his job. There were 10 firing lanes where I was shooting.

You could go to Precision and have people continually handling their weapons behind the firing line -- that should really annoy you (It bothers/scares the hell out of me).

I've had weapons pointed at me multiple times since the new owners took over Precision. They need a full time RSO.

I went a couple of weeks ago. The environment is definitely cleaner and feels safer than precision. It’s going to be my new place to go shoot.

I read that they have some "no rapid fire" rule where you can only shoot one round every five seconds or something like that. True or no?

That would be a deal breaker.

Do the firing lines have a "counter top" between the shooter and downrange? Could they do USPSA type shooting there like FRC? I know that would not be a walk in type scenario but a planned event.

I’d like that.

Last time I went to FRC I had a dude shooting an AK left handed, right handed and from both hips and under his armpit most of the time. I happened to right next to him and I’m trying to sight in a Wilson combat 6.8 SPC with a Thermion 2 XP50.

Same thing happened at precision when I was sighting in my Falkor 300 win mag with my ATACR. fricking retards shooting AR’s and just point barrels everywhere.

It is a shooting range and the general rule is a two second delay between shots.
You want to rapid fire then you need to go to a Training range.

No one said anything to me, and I was shooting 3-4 rounds per second (depending on the drill and the distance). RSO was there the whole time.

Yep, there are “counter tops “ for gun, ammo, range bag, etc.

Not sure what you mean by USPSA type shooting.

Don't see any reason to go there instead of FRC personally.

$20 all-day at FRC vs $22/hr at RUSA and no tarded rapid fire, drawing, or target rules.

I have zero financial connection with Range USA. But there were no rules prohibiting rapid fire, drawing from holster or bringing your own targets.

Precision allows all this as well - but their layout/policies are still much less safe.

Bridgeview used to (maybe still does) have a rapid fire restriction. Maybe that’s who you’re thinking of.

They want to get on the other side of the shooting tables and run courses.

I'm sure there is physical access, although I didn't look for it.

The "shooting zone" is 25 yards deep and wide enough to accommodate 10 firing lanes. They have a second area (separated by a wall) that also has 10 shooting lanes and appears to be the same size.

I've shot a few IDPA matches at similarly sized indoor facilities (mostly shot outdoor matches), so I'd say there's enough room. He could always ask about scheduling some type of match.

ETA: Never shot at FRC. Went in when they first opened to chat with some of the previous Precision employees who moved over there.
