Sitting in 12 degree -4 wind chill. Have sanctuary jacket, solitude bibs, military grid fleece and merino base and couldn’t be warmer.

Was never this warm in warmer conditions with old stuff.

Im in the Solitude kit currently. I have the Kiln baselayers and a down vest on. Was 4 degrees when I got on the stand, wasn't toasty but I'm not dead. I'm thinking of getting a Sitka vest to cut the wind.

Yeah had my kilns for base (bottom and top)
Furnace top
Under armour hoody
Then cabelas wooltimate for top layer (tops and bottom)
Liner sock, darn tough, lacrosse burly, artic sheild boot blanket

Was in a box without a heater 24 degrees and was toasty

Yup, I bought it the year before they came out with the wind proof stuff. Wind cuts through it pretty good.

Have had a black set of their base layers for a few years, don't remember what they were called. Upgraded this year to the furnace bases, and Solitude bibs and jacket. Haven't tried them together yet, but I think they'll be warm as heck.

I've got a split of KUIU, First Lite and Sitka. It took me a while to really prove it, but Sitka is way warmer. I love the First Lite Furnace baselayers, but after baselayers I will be selling off my First Lite. Sitka is where it's at. My lighter, thinner Stratus jacket is warmer and lighter while also blocking 100% of the wind while the heavy arse Woodbury isn't near as warm and it's bulky.

Also for warmer weather or just on the cool side the FL Obsidian Merino pants are okay, just okay to me. Not that soft, comfy or stretchy. Meanwhile the Sitka Equinox Guard pants were sent from heaven made by Jesus himself.

It’s always been my feet that send me back to the truck in the coldest weather.

I have all First lite gear with solitude as my outside layer. In low wind conditions, I can have 3 layers and stay warm down to 10 degrees or so, unless the wind is blowing upwards of 10 mph.

That’s my only complaint about First Lite. I bought my stuff 2 or 3 yrs ago. 2 years ago, I hunted one morning at about 18 degrees with 18-20 mph winds and had to get down. I almost froze because the wind went straight through it.

I’ll sell and rebuy another set if the new stuff is wind proof, or just upgrade to sanctuary set.

Wick, kiln, furnace, then the catalyst outer wear and it’s not bad. I’m outside working on cattle and it’s fine. Definitely getting the sanctuary 2.0 for next year, but this works just fine.

I have Kuiu for western, early, and mid season. I tried the Sitka stuff and the stratus would’ve had too many layers. Fanatic was too fluffy with the brush. I never tried incinerator though. I also wanted a more versatile jacket and the fanatic was not it. Stratus would’ve also did the same role but less than my Kuiu axis hybrid.

First lite sanctuary jacket was warmer to me than fanatic and I didn’t need the hand muff the fanatic has because I already have a good one.

Sanctuary bibs were too much down here so I settled on solitudes and glad I did. I did not like the solitude jacket as the collar was very stiff and high. Sanctuary was much better.

Tried out kuiu proximity also and it just wasn’t as good as others.

Everybody has to remember all the 2.0 first lite is wind proof. Older first lite was not.

I really like my kuiu attack pants. Probably best pants I’ve ever owned.

It's a good thing to try different things and find what you like! Unfortunately most of my First Lite was bought 3-5 years ago and the winds howl through them. And then deeper down I have issues with the Chernin Group and especially that chump Janis.

I don’tcare about the Chernin group thing. Sitka, kuiu, and first lite get made in suspect countries like China.

It’s almost impossible to have a fully “clean” company. Also apple and Google have done shady stuff but I bet you still use their phone. It sucks but it is what it is.

What'd he do?

I like my kuiu katana jacket, but I wear it year round for rain and stuff. It's just a typical softshell though, lots of other companies make the same thing for the same price.

I have the kuiu axis jacket will add the pants for an upcoming trip out west. I’m pretty well set with my cabelas wooltimate for stand hunting and probably will not upgrade to FL for whitetail top layer.
I am looking to add a puffy but have been turned off by how thin they are and if it would ever get used for anything besides a trip out west or a place without briars.
Do you know of anyone that has tried the new FL puffy “the source” curios if it fills the role as a true packable puffy or just something that’s kind of good at durable and packable but not great at either?

In June of 2020 - "Please go vote this November. These protest won't mean a thing unless we vote the assholes and racist out."

Let's just say he is woke, and a BLM supporter. He is entitled to freedom of speech and I choose to spend LOTS of money with John Barklow, a sure enough badass that served this country to the highest degree.

I may not have too much of choice such as Apple or Android, but when I can I got to follow folks with like-minded beliefs.

Get you a solid color in puffy. You are typically glassing if you need that or need it as a layer in stands.

I use a cheap Costco 650 fill puffy. It is great for what I need it for. If you go solid then you can do cheaper brands on Amazon or do a hiking company.

What gear is the Chernin group associated with?

You lost me on that rant.
