Anyone here have any experience with Firman generators? I saw a tri fuel option at Costco for $700. Max of 9400 watts.

Love mine, I have a 3500w starting 3000w running inverter generator. I've had it for years and use it bowfishing (cue im a horrible sporman comments) and have never had any issues.

There is an appeal to run this off propane. I always have that on hand and it doesn’t go bad. No need to stock pile gasoline.

I have the dual fuel that's propane and gas. Only have run propane so far without any problems. Also have only used it for two outages 14 hours total. It can run everything in my house except for the AC.

Just realize that the output goes down depending on fuel. Gas > Propane > Natural Gas

Yeah - I see the reduced wattage on alternative fuel. I like the flexibility to run on any of three. I know there are adaptors out there to run just about any generator on natural gas or propane, but I like the idea of this one coming that way from the manufacturer.

I just have never heard of Firman before.

I have the Duel fuel version from Costco from last year. It works fine, it doesn't put out the cleanest electricity but it is a cheap generator. The electric start is nice, I actually test run the generator since it is so easy to start.

I read some poor reviews based on the “dirty electricity” and how it may screw up some electronics. Have you had any issues?

On a generator monitor RPM.

If you can make the engine rpm more consistent, the electrical outputs will have a much cleaner sine wave.

My Briggs and Stratton storm defender was awful from the factory. Put a new Japanese carb on it and it's great.

I purchased this generator from Costco when they were on sale for $599, but I have not used it yet. Three years ago I purchased a Firmin 5700 (gasoline only) with remote start that I use at my camp. It is the best generator I have ever owned. Only drawback--Made in China.

My biggest issue with these off brands is finding parts. I think Champions are the best bang for the buck and they are usually not much more expensive than the firman/Westinghouse brands. But you go the champion website and parts diagrams are all there and you can order parts direct. My 2000w inverter that I bought used needed a new carb. Found the part number and had a new carb in hand in 4 days for about $20.
