Let's say you own zero firearms. You have a $3000 budget. You must pay MSRP. These are the only guns you will ever own. What firearm(s) do you buy?

Glock 19 $600
Moss berg 500 in 12 ga $400
Ruger American II in 308 $500
Ruger 10/22 rifle $300
Browning Buckmark 22 pistol $300
S&W AR 15 $600
Taurus G3C $250
And $50 to spare
Something like this list will cover most needs including practice

Bergara rifle in .308 or 30-06 ($800)
Scope for the above, Meopta ~$350
5.56 AR-15 from PSA, blemish if I can get away with that being MSRP ($480)
Primary arms prism scope ~300 for the above
Let's call that $2K so far with taxes...
With the remaining 1K I'll get:
Traditions G4 ultralite muzzleloader, scope package $500-ish
Canik TP9SF Elite ~$500
I have all of these anyway, but I like them so I'd do it again. I did get some stuff on sale and most of these were years ago, but I guessed at higher MSRP prices. If I don't get to count blem PSA as MSRP, then that one is out obviously. I'd get a .22 rifle and rimfire scope for that amount pretty easily for fun shooting.

How would YOU spend the money? That's the thought experiment.

Glock 43x - 500
Tikka t3x 6.5cr -800
Franchi affinity 12ga -850
Ruger 10-22 -300
Browning buckmark 22 400$
High point 9mm because I would have about 150$ left over and I love buying guns.

Sig p365 $500
Model 70 alaskan .375 h&h $1,630 (real budget buster here but F it)
Mossberg 500 12 ga $515
Ruger 10/22 $389
Picking between nice rifle or nice shotgun would take me a damn long time to actually decide. Would have to be a .375 because I plan to go to Africa one day.
