I know most people have their phones these days but what if you want to hunt without a phone on a hunt. How then can you prove you have a valid stamp if you don't have the physical with you?

You can't. If you decide to buy a digital stamp, you must always have your phone with you. I can't make sure you have enough battery and if you don't have service you have to take a screenshot of it.
Someone else mentioned it in the thread, but you don't receive the hard copy until after the season since you could allow someone else to use the hard copy and you use the digital. The other option is to go to the Post Office and buy the hard copy. I went to four different post offices in Baton Rouge this year the last week of November and couldn't find a single stamp. Had to buy digital. Just got my hard copy in the mail this week also.

Yep. This isn’t rocket science. You would think it is by some of the comments in this thread lol

No issues around here on actual stamp to buy. I had to buy 2 a few years back. Lost the first one somehow. Thankfully the GW was having a good day and didn’t cite me.

I remember, the good days… and for all the smart guys in the thread that say they do it this way now to prevent you giving it to someone else? I believe you had to have it with your other license/tag and sign it. Not sure why they changed.

I’m sure close to 90% that buy a stamp and hunt like to keep theirs for keepsake. But still makes no sense to receive a physical stamp 5-6 months after paying for it,

I’ve got every year since 82, except the year I missed due to army training sir.

Why do I need to sign a stamp that I received 6 weeks after the season closed?
If you don’t plan to use it for anything further, you do t need to sign it.
