Like most of y'all, I'm sure, I have always mostly worn baseball caps. I've been getting more seriously into traditional archery. The longer bows means different string angles, which means I have to turn my hat around backwards to shoot. That got me thinking about a shorter brimmed hat, which reminded me of the old Jones Caps my dad wore in the 80's.

There's only a couple of companies making them now, I think. Anyway, long story short, I now have a couple of new ones, and one vintage, made in the USA, Original Jones Cap. I also bought a camo bucket, or "boonie" hat, but I don't love the floppy brim.

Anyway, I like functional hats. Anybody here use anything other than a baseball cap?

This is a manly, outdoor topic about good hunting hats.

was originally joking but i might order a robin hood hat. I can dig it. If a deer looks up and sees robing hood he knows he's screwed. I might see if my ole lady can sew one up out of an old wool blanket I have laying around.

Definitely. I'd put a longer feather in it though. The feather length shows dominance.

my favorite is a merino beanie. When it's too hot for that I just grab whatever cap I have laying nearby

I mostly like flat bill hats

I just wear my camo hat backwards while bow hunting when warm, when it cools off I wear a beanie to keep the ole noggin warm.

Lol if anyone thinks I wear flat bills

You need a fedora and a big peacock feather in it

Teague, sorry to hijack your thread but I know you are into falconry and know a lot about birds of prey. Today I jumped up a few nesting turkeys in a wheat field and a little later there was a bald eagle hunting rabbits. I got to wondering if a bald eagle would prey on adult turkeys. I have seen them killing ducks but never really thought about them hunting turkeys.
