Looking to buy some as I want some new stuff besides what I make. Was looking at Heath riles and kosmos. But please suggestions? Have any reviews of Heath riles? I like combos packs from him as I love sweet and tangy sauces. Want a system so to speak of sauce matched with rubs. Love to get a brisket mop sauce. I do Boston butts ribs chicken and briskets

Kosmos Dirty Bird Rub is great. Plowboys Yardbird rub is another great one to put on chicken. (and ribs)

Heath Riles Rubs that I use:

Honey Chipolte (his best rub IMO)
Pecan
Garlic Jalapeno

Other rubs that I like are The BBQ Rub and The HOT Rub by Killer Hogs/Malcolm Reed.

The following is BY Far my favorite rubs to use: Simply Marvelous Spicy Apple and Simply Marvelous Cherry Rubs. Those are what I use on my comp cooks for ribs and shoulders.

For BBQ Sauce, I use Blues Hog Tennessee Red.

Do u like Heath riles sauce? I'm kinda tired of making my own And it's pretty pricy itself but it tastes amazing. Just gonna make it every now and again. Be a nice break and little easier. I'll check out the blue hogs though

rub and sauce combos?

Back in the day, my favorite place was in the strip mall behind the Whataburger off the Hardy St exit in Hattiesburg.

I make my own dry rub, with proportions of the following;

Chili powder
Cumin
Salt
Black pepper
Cayenne
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Dried parsley

Works great on pork or beef cuts.

I've tried quite a few and this continues to be my favorite sauce:

As far as rub is concerned, if BBQ/grilling beef, I like to keep it very simple. Coarse black pepper and kosher salt. And whatever type of wood you like to use for smokiness flavor.

If pork ribs:

Brown sugar
Paprika
Coarse black pepper
Kosher salt
Chili powder
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Pinch of Cayenne

We enjoy a sweet sauce and rub for pork/ribs. My current favorite is Meat Church Holy Gospel on ribs with Blues hog champions blend sauce at the end.
For beef I like a less sweet rub and no sauce. The salt lick rub and holy cow are both good. Plain ol sea salt and black pepper works too.

I have not tried Heath's sauces yet. I have tried Malcolm Reed's sauces and they are pretty good. With those sauces its cheaper to buy it by the half gallon or gallon sizes once you do the math.

I make my own rubs based on what I do. For most beef stuff it's just salt and pepper. For pork I do salt, pepper, smoked paprika, granulated onion, granulated garlic, chili powder.
PSA to everyone, next time you smoke pulled pork, shred it then add Zea Thai rib sauce, green onion, and sesame seeds. Absolute game changer of a recipe.

You must have been in the sauce pretty good because they have never had a Whataburger in Hattiesburg. Only Jackson, Vicksburg and the coast.

Riles is pretty good. There are just so many to choose from and so many different flavor profiles I find it difficult to even keep up with what I have used previously and am like a woman with shoe purchases hen it comes to rubs/sauces.
