False River pleasure boating.

^^^ about all there is to do there...

-You can expect the river to be pretty rough on the weekends as it is always loaded with wake boats and it is surrounded mostly with sea walls. (lot of wake, no place for it to be absorbed)
-Fishing will be tough during the day as it is filled with recreational boats and wake. If you want to fish, I suggest going into the bayous if it gets busy or the wake it bad.
-Sand bar is open they offer decent food. Drinks are pretty expensive.
-Jim's bar recently I heard opened back up, food is decent there too. Would choose sand bar over this place if with family. It is located in a not so pretty area.
-Sand bar has gas on the water, so does satterfields; however, satterfields restaurant and bar are closed.
-Depending on time you plan to launch if using public launch....Sand bar is normally packed and you have to park further away. I would launch at Morels or the place across the river from Sand bar.
-IMO Bueches bar has the best food on the river but they have been take out only for awhile. Would need to call ahead of time.
-I would expect to see and be stopped by game wardens. They love to now use a black un-marked party barge all the time there it has a fixed metal tower and cover. They will also use marked regular T top boats, and small un marked camo boats with gator tail surface drives. Ensure you have everything required and life jackets.
-On the North end of the river, be weary, it does get shallow in certain areas.
-keep your head on a swivel; you can expect plenty of out of towners who are ignorant to general boating etiquette, kids using their parents boats, and jet skiers who think their ski owns the water.
-Watch the no wake zone buoys, The are all along each side of the river.
-If you would like to anchor out and swim; I suggest the south end or the man made sand bar someone recently build. Be weary of trash, etc. in the water if shallow and standing.
-Again....LWLF love that place and going unmarked/undercover. I see it almost every weekend.

This is all local talk.

Jims and Bueches did not have a restaurant license. They first closed, then had enough of waiting so they re-opened as "restaurants" with no in door smoking and some tables setup. After the weekend that Sand Dollar in GI got shut down Jim I believe closed, and Bueches went to take out food only. Jims apparently got their restaurant license and now back fully open as a "restaurant". From what I heard Bueches is still waiting on theirs.

Satterfields restaurant closed at the beginning. Since then they announced permanent closure, and putting it up for sale. The bar below it "the landing" closed, then opened, then closed again following JBE orders. They never could claim to be a restaurant since the food they served was from the actual satterfields restaurant upstairs and it has been closed permanently.

Sand bar......I have the slightest clue how that place has not been shut down. I know they already have strikes on their License to serve alcohol and they have been bucking every rule. They have had multiple bands, never closed not once, no real restrictions, vollyball, and firework displays. Hell the very band Parish County Line that got Sand Dollar Marina shut down (for not even playing on their property or hired by sanddollar) played at Sandbar recently i think for the 4th. I do know they are a "bar and grill" and apparently have a restaurant licences? So maybe they skirted the BS with that, and using the claim "out door seating" etc.

Again, all rumors. Don't take it for truth.

Not a restaurant licence, but a permit. I think they are issued by ATC as well, and are different from just a permit to sell alcohol like a bar.

I am dragging the boat there from points east. I've never operated in that area, which is why I posted the query.

Don't sweat not being able to fish too much, you really aren't missing a whole lot. Great place to go for a relaxing ride with a good view.

False River had some of the best fishing in the entire south once upon a time, and used to host major bass tournaments.
