Took it back to Academy and exchanged it for a similar priced AllStar since they didnt have any more BooCoos in med/hvy or Hvy

All is well with the world once again

Continue hijack mode if so desired. :)

Jeez, what are you fishing for, tuna? Med/hvy or hvy is way big.

I take it you don't bass fish

Unless you're using a treble hook bait anything under MH is too light. Heavy is a bit much for worms unless you use bigger weights.

They fight, and it's not like fighting reds in open water. If you have to let them pull out drag they'll get tangled in some stumps or grass and pop the line. Plus you need to get a nasty hookset usually to get the hook through both the plastic and the fish's lip

ETA I only have 2 baitcasters less than MH

What do you throw frogs, jigs, and punch grass with?

I use my heavy a good bit. One of my MH is kind of cheating, it's labeled MH XF and has a realllly light tip. I couldn't see throwing a t-rig on anything lighter than MH though

I have the falcon MH XF weightless worm rod for that. Works pretty great, enough action in the tip for it but it has enough backbone to yank fish out the water.

I use a st croix ml xf that thinks it's a mh. It's pulled some fish out of some nasty stuff with no problems.

I want to get one of the all stat classic topwater rods to replace my broken American Rodsmith but all academy has been having in stock is the saltwater models of all stars.

Ding ding!

I actually thought that the BooCoo was a bit "light" for a MH, But I didn't have anything else in that category and figured it would double as a floating worm rod. (I was using it as a lighter jig/ pitching stick.)

I went with a MH 7' AllSTAR ASM that seems to have a bit more muscle in the butt end but still a nice fast tip. Should be perfect.

And admittedly I am from the ol cross-their eyes hookset club.

Maybe growing up fishing Lake Eufaula (Al.) had a little bit to do with that.

I will admit Falcon rods tend to be on the lighter side of what they're labeled as, I keep that in mind when buying one.

I couldn't do it. I do need something longer and heavy with a MF action for frogs though. Like an 7'6" or longer.

I've never owned or fished with a "heavy" action rod... I'll tell u this though.. These loomis rods are spoiling me... I've been trying to fish with some of my cheaper rods that I have baits I don't use all the time on and I'm struggling with them... Starting to really notice a difference

I forget you use loomis. All their shite is made for specific baits, I wouldn't be wanting to use the cheaper ones either

I played with one and loved it. My dobyns savvy is a pretty nice rod, but when I got it I played with a champion and champion xtreme. Feels like a loomis. Perfectly balanced. They're not cheap but well worth it. I want to buy another dobyns sometime soon but not sure if I can justify it

I don't care for their lure specific rods... Doesn't really meet my needs.. (I think we've had a thread on that lol)
