I figured if you read that thread (which is a long running topic on this board) maybe you could gain some insight into not just how I feel about it, but others as well. But maybe reading comprehension is not your strong suit?

Regardless, the point of this thread was not to bring up the collar-non collar debate, it was to enjoy the comments of the FB police.

So your stance is you would shoot a dog only if it was someone's pet? But ok to shoot if it's not?

Typo. Was supposed to say would not shoot a dog if it was someone's pet. I thought everyone would figure it out.

I had dog interfere with my disc golf round at Highland recently. Maybe I should carry when I play.

Yea same here. My lab doesn't always wear his collar. If someone ever shot him I'd kill his entire family then shoot him the dick and let him live a miserable dickless life. Have fun pissing through a hose fricker...

No you wouldn't. But you also wouldn't let your dog run on someone else's property over and over would you?

No I completely agree with that. People should contain their dogs and train them to behave. But mine has enough drive to end up on someones property chasing a crippled duck/goose so its possible that it could happen. At that point if someone shot him I would return the favor.

I like my dog more than most of the people in my life. I might regret the decision later on, but caught up in the moment, I would shoot em.

You sit in a stand all season and wait for the biggest deer in La, pads up all kinds of deer and the one day a dog runs in front of you you claim it ruins your hunt - whatever, there is no excuse to ever shoot a dog other than just being an a-hole

Obviously you would regret it when you are in jail for a long time for shooting someone because they shot your dog. I mean, I understand the compassion for your pet, but that action would mean that you love your dog more than your family. If someone were to shoot my dog because it went on to someone's property one time, I'd be pissed sure. I would never shoot a dog that was obviously someone's pet that wandered in our property. But after several warnings, that may be a different story. On the flip side, we had ragged looking pit bulls running our land injuring cows, so we were told to shoot them on site which I would have happily complied with.

I support shooting rabid dogs that are threatening your family or your livestock...

Obviously we are in two different boats on this issue...

What if a nice looking collared dog ruined 10 out of 12 hunts running around your stand? That happened to me this season from the first day to last Saturday. Big cur squirrel dog - I'll load him up and bring him home before I shoot him, but it sure has crossed my mind. I'll probably see him again this weekend.

Not going to say anything to the owner because if he does come up missing I'll be the prime suspect.

One of my yard dogs was shot in the leg a few weeks ago. Now he is a tripod, had to take off one of his front legs. I lost another one that I imagine was with and didn't make it home. Both had collars with my name on them. It's probably best that I never find out who shot them.

How else will you protect yourself from the roving bands of wild hogs too?
