What does the OB think is the better deal?

1) 2011 lariat fx4 with 58000 miles. Has leather, full console in front, rear view camera, the new trip computer in the cluster. The truck bed has def hauled some stuff as its rusty and looks really used.

2) 2012 xlt fx4 with 4500 miles. Has cloth seats and bench seat with fold down in front seat. Standard radio, doesn't have the trip computer cluster, has the 17" rims as opposed to the 20" on the lariat.

Price is the same.

I don't like Fords, but I would go for 2 and have aftermarket leather added later if it were important to me.

They said they could install leather for 1200. I'd also want to add an after market screen with XM. And some sort of back up camera.

You can pay about 6k more and get a brand new 2012 lariat after incentives.

The new lariat was 46 after rebates. But after TTL over budget.

The thing I'm most skeptical about is the cloth seats. I've had leather in all my previous vehicles.

I have had leather for my last 3 vehicles and I don't foresee ever going back to cloth.

That being said, a significant mileage difference exists between the powertrains on those 2 vehicles.

I would shop for a better deal. Last january I bought a 2010 Lariat Fx4 with 18,000 miles and fully loaded for 39 after all taxes and fees.

That's probably because it has 6.4 engine in it. People where flooding the market with these trying to get rid of them because of the problems.

Depends. If you use it for its intended purpose, #2 is by far the better deal. If all you really care about is keeping up with the Jones', go for #1.

I didn't think the 6.4 had too many issues?

I want it for the engine and the fuel economy. It'd be my only vehicle for the next 8 yrs or so

Buy an 09 loaded for 25k. Diesel engines aren't even broken in at 100,000.
