Anyone have any reviews or insight on the F150 with the v6 diesel? Daily driver with lots of highway miles yearly. Pulling around 3,500 pounds pretty often.

Is it worth it for the diesel option or is it a piece of junk?

Why not just get ecoboost or 5oh instead?

Nope, up charge and main cant be over come via mpg or torque. 150 diesel is only available in KR and up with zero discounts from what I heard. 3.5 will do anything the diesel will do with less hassle.

MPG's are supposed to be pretty good in them but not sure how much savings you would have overall by spending more to get that engine and the higher fuel costs. Towing and acceleration capabilities are much better in the gas motors. I have the 3.5 ecoboost in mine and I love it.

Lariat and King Ranch.
Don't think those diesels are really meant to be pulling shite everyday. If you've driven one, i think you'd realize they aren't meant for that just from how they accelerate.

Actually, I would say that is the best case to make for the F150 diesel. As others have said, the up-front and maintenance expense doesn't justify the diesel option by itself. But, consistent loads on it is usually the reason for this type of engine. Think of how many buy the diesel for the F250 (vs. gas).

While the ecoboost has more torque, IMO it is really designed for daily driving with the occasional heavy pull (just one piece of evidence: it gets terrible mileage with a load). I just wouldn't put that much load on it on a regular basis. BTW, a family friend who is a long-time mechanic at one of the Ford dealerships shares the same opinion, if that helps at all.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the F150 diesel but if you decide against it, I'd consider the 5.0 or even an off-lease F250 based on your comment that you routinely pull 3500lbs (assuming you mean several times a week).

I have one and just got to 10,000 miles. With factory tires it will do everything the EB engine will do only 7 mpg better. I've got 35" mud tires on it right now and I'm getting 21-22 with those (empty), factory tires it will get 25-26. Factory tires will be going back on shortly for summer use.

Towing my Ranger (factory tires) MPG drops to 17 or so. I drive about 40,000 per year and I'd make the same choice again.

There is a dealer here in North La that has 3 on his lot right now and might be willing to deal on a Lariat.

Except the diesel is more expensive up front and more expensive to maintain.
