Take the choke out throw some hopps down the barrel and with the receiver then use an outers one piece rod and run that down the barrel, then just scrub the inner parts. Put the choke back in and do the drill trick and call it a day.

Usually I just throw some oil on it, run the barrel a few times with a rod of some sort and oil the outer metal parts and put it up.

What yall using on yalls wooden stocks?

I use paste wax, Trewax clear or Johnson. Use it on the wood and rubber recoil pads. Used to use it on faded A2 stocks for command inspections a long time ago. Paste wax is good for protecting high polished blued steel surfaces too.

Usually just use a little 3-in-1 on the moving parts and exterior metal. If it had been a rough year on a shotgun then I will break that down and do a thorough cleaning. Worked for my dad in his 83 years of life and has worked for me so far.

I'd say any oil is better than what you're using.

ETA: For lubrication, just get a quart of motor oil. Your typical engine goes through way more punishment than most firearms will ever see, yet we've somehow been fooled into thinking a 4 ounce bottle of gun lube should cost 3 times as much as a quart of motor oil.

Less than a year? Just any old gun oil or some motor oil will protect it from rust.

I just use mineral spirits (paint thinner).

This old man has forgotten more about cleaning guns than I'll ever know.

Hoppe's 904 No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner
Dip rod with wire cleaner into bottle. Run up and down inside barrel. Finish with a cloth or 2 until cloth is clean
This will keep buildup of corrosion inside gun
Oil outside with regular gun oil….
Most people only take care of outside gun. Inside is more important.

99% of my shooting is with cast so Ed's Red is all I need.

Lube is Synthetic 5w-30,40. For slides I dilute moly grease with 5w to my liking and use it.

This is so true. Same as 90% of lures on market are designed to catch fishermen not fish.

I deep clean at the end of every season. Before the season, I give the gun a wipe down with an oily rag. I may clean the rifle during the season, if it gets dirty.

If it rains, I take the barrel off and let it dry. then I wipe it down good. I have a 40+ year old rifle that I deer hunt with that does not have any rust on it.
